I am so sorry too! Cats are such special pets, nothing can replace them so we don’t try, we just move on to the next loving little furry purry one that needs us and that brings us joy and companionship and unconditional love. Of course you will grieve your special Calvin for quite a while and the new kitty won’t replace him, just bring you the joy of kittydom in its own way. And Calvin would want that because that’s one of the things he was here to teach you about, don’t you think? I still miss my 5 lbs 19 year old Scardycat who left for kittyheaven 4 years ago following the death of Poosygato also 19 by a year. 😥 Due to circumstances I haven’t gotten another cat but I get my kittyfix with the neighbor’s cat. I believe Calvin would love to pass the kittylove torch to the next kitty in your family! Also, I think your daughter is noticing your grief and trying to understand how to deal with that as well as deal with the loss of Calvin, so it’s also important to help her understand that when people lose what they care a lot for, they cry and feel really sad and that this isn’t about her or anything she can fix and it’s ok for her to feel sad about Calvin too and it won’t make you feel any more sad than you do, she doesn’t have to make you feel better or do anything about the sadness. It also helps sometimes to have her draw what is happening, so she can express herself in pictures if she has trouble with the feelings in words. Sometimes kids identify with the animal so they think maybe this is what would happen if I died too, othertimes they have no real conception of death, they think it’s like on TV where the same actor shows up again in another episode, not dead at all, so there is no “foreverness” about it. So maybe just spending a little “open” time with her to see what is going on in her mind and what she is thinking/feeling would give you a clue to her reaction. These are just some suggestions, take what seems useful, dump the rest.
My deepest sympathies on the loss of Calvin!

It’s me *ducking my head* I got him to go with my wolf griffin family. They all have green eyes and I thought it would be nice to have an adopted cousin come to live with them, to sort of be a more authentic typical family instead of the 1950’s usual nuclear family of one male, one female and two children. It will give them all a broader perspective and wider social understanding. (Gee, do I sound like a social worker/therapist? Maybe because I am one? You think? 😉 😳 ) I’ll try to post pictures but I am spectacularly not good at it. But I’ll do the best I can!
Anyway, thanks for the congradulations! I do appreciate them, epecially seeing how much you all wanted the little guy. But you know he will stay in the “family” and have a good forum home! (Having good forum homes is important for adoptees, as we all know! 😀 )
    Have a great New Year’s!!

in reply to: Reasonable price? #743771

I got #3 for a reasonable price but I also paid in the $700’s for the bronze gold and the winter blue and in the mid $800’s for the dark green and adding in the California sales tax I had to pay at the time, it shoved it into the $900’s. I’m amazed that that sun has even come on the market at all at any price. It is unlikely another one will come on the market again soon, although with the economy the way it is, who knows? If you want it, I would suggest that you get it or at least offer for it. It’s an unusual offering. Just my opinion.

Congradulations!! That is a beautiful dragon! I hope it cheers you up and helps you out of whatever misery you’re in! Good for you!

    Yess! So would I!!!

in reply to: New Stuff!!!! #742347

I missed the bat wing! I’m heartbusted!!! 🙁 🙁 😥 😥 I hope more come out soon. I got the bird wing, though. I don’t think he is as cute as the bat wing with the little tongue sticking out and the little crinkly eyes. He’s so cute!! I’m so sorry I missed him!!! 🙁 If anyone bought one to sell as a spare, I am certainly interested!!!!

    in reply to: raffle #740904

I wonder if there might be a certain day of each month set for the deadline to get the names of everyone who wanted to be in the next raffle. That way, at least those of us scatterheads that can hardly remember what month it is will have a sporting chance to remember to get our names in if we choose to enter for the raffle. I didn’t know the rules had changed and assumed I was in for the last raffle, so I missed entering for it, and I would have done so if I had known. Also, if I know I have to get it in like the 25th to be eligible for the next one, then I can mark it on the calendar to check and see if it is one I would like to enter or not. No matter what the date would be, some regular date would be helpful. Would that be possible?

in reply to: special OW #740920

He’s stunning! When I saw that picture, I thought I had been electrified! I could hardly believe my eyes! I had heard that rainbow OW’s might be coming, but I never expected them to be so incredible! Whew! I do so hope this is a prototype and there will be more. I snatched up the rainbow SK as fast as that one came out and if this one comes out, I will be at the door again! *fingers and toes crossed, eyes too if that will help!*

Melody, that special OW that you painted for the donation to the special raffle is the most beautiful dragon I have EVER seen!(and I have 226 Windstones!) I will certainly buy some raffle tickets! Bacause the chances of winning this particular one is 1-whatever, I am asking if there is ever going to be another chance of a rainbow OW in my or anyone else on the forum’s future? I have every one of the rainbow sculpts and it is by far my favorite, it got me collecting Windstones again after a 15 year hiatus. Please tell me I have some hope of getting a rainbow OW someday! That one really does light me up!

I thought we only had to enter our names once to be in raffles and if we didn’t win, the names got into the next raffle. Do we have to enter our names each month to be in that month’s raffle? (I’m just trying to understand the rules, I don’t want to miss out on a raffle!)

in reply to: thank you card #738217

I got mine today too, so glad to know what it was for! It is just beautiful! Thank you for the thank you and I’m glad the pizza was so well enjoyed!!
    😆

in reply to: My day…:( #736418

I’m so sorry. 😥 That’s happened to me too, where a dog has hit my car and there is nothing to be done. I get really upset with the owners because it is so preventable with dogs. Cats, not so much, they aren’t containable unless they are strictly indoor cats, but dogs can be contained, and the owners caused everyone all this preventable pain for nothing!!! Arghhh!!! 👿 👿 (Once I used it as a lesson to my 3 year old daughter who had a bad habit of running into the street that this would happen to her if she didn’t stop it. She stopped!!! Harsh but effective. I’m not sure I would do that again, though she didn’t seem to have been traumatized and I still have my daughter!)

in reply to: White wizard gemstone #735776

Well, apparently there is a debate going on over there too about the original color! The originals are still packed up in boxes and it sounds like they won’t see the light of day for a while. Melody said she thought the originals were clear but wasn’t sure her memory was accurate and said to ask the forum!!! So around we go again!
Anyway, thank you all for so much help and I am going for the clear color on the whites, it seems to make more sense to me because my other wizards, the black and the blue already have the amethysts, the emeralds have the ruby, the peacock has the sapphire, so rather than put in yet another amethyst, putting in a “diamond”(clear) makes a better balance and variety and “matches” the whites better. If I’m wrong on the color according to any future authority/encyclopedia on Windstones, well, they can take them out, or declare them more valuable as a rarity! 😆

yeah, mon, that’s my reggae rasta chocolate dragon with his dreds, irie? (All right?) I wanted to overlap two of my passions at some point, my love of Windstone dragons and my love for reggae music, so I created these dredlocks from cheneille yarn for the darkest dragon I have. My reggae bracelet fit perfectly as a headband, also. I get a lot of compliments on him too! The avatar didn’t come out as clear as I would have liked, I’ll have to work on that! I couldn’t find a reggae dragon, dragons don’t fit into the reggae culture like lions do, so I had to create my own. Maybe I should commission a PYO in reggae colors and put dreds on that one! 😆

in reply to: It Pains Me To Do This… #735213

Hey, I just saw your sale and I know I’m a day late and a dragon short, but if the koirin is still available, could I still get it for $75? I have a friend who would give it a really good home and I would give it to her for Christmas. Let me know, ok? Thanks!
