That was exactly the icon I was thinking of. Or the even more famous kermit-the-frog flail.
Noooo!
None until I have a job and can throw a serious bid at one!
*crosses fingers and toes*
*flail*
My man just got one off eBay for a buy-it-now for $165!
*FLAILS*
I may just die of happiness.
(If anyone has a female ki-rin they’d be willing to trade for an emerald sun dragon, please let me know! Then I just might die of happiness. ;_; )
I’m more patial to the Chinese water deer, myself:

Yup! I got some pictures right here. The two big ones are the light colored ones, the baby is one of the indigo colored ones so you can see the difference better:

Zelda wrote:Hi! I have a peacock oriental that I’m currently fixing up, but I’ve seen another that’s listed on Ebay, and realized something. The auction dragon looks distinctively glossy to me, while mine has a matte finish to it. Were orientals produced like the early dragons, where they had a matte finish at first and were then made to be more glossy at a later time? Thanks!
I’ve got a set of the peacock orientals, but they are the lighter ones, with purple, green and blue with red highlights in the manes instead of indigo colored with orange manes. But mine look relatively glossy like the one on ebay. Later production, maybe?
I know there’s a couple on Ebay right now, and I am watching them like a hawk. But I did want to see if anyone here had a baby pegasus they’d be willing to part with. It is the only one I need to complete the white pegasus set!
I have a PYO griffin I painted to offer in trade, or I can write out a check, or money order.
Anybody?
(Also as a side note. I still have an emerald sun dragon. I’m looking to trade it for a female pearl griffin or a black male pegasus and black hatching pegasus)
Oh these are cute! Please post links to the auction when they are ready! I might just have to sneak in a bid.
enchantments wrote:really amazing! My husband wanted to get into stained glass ( I have a pile of pretty glass) but never has the time. I really love the griffin one wish I had the money 🙂 what about a smaller one say 12″ or smaller something that could be shipped?
A smaller one would be do-able, but the detail would be lost. Shrinking down those neck feathers would be a royal pain in the butt, same with the actual knot pieces. A 12″ one might be shippable… but even then I’m wary of sending it. Once glass is in a piece of stained glass you’d think it would be stronger, but the whole thing is actually more brittle. A good quarter of the time I spent on these was repairing broken pieces in the finished product. *Anything* can break pieces. Too hot from the soldering iron, broken pieces. Too much torque on the egdes, broken pieces. *Breathing* on it wrong, broken pieces. I suppose I could ship one really carefully, but it would definitely be a ‘buyer beware’ type deal. I can pack it as well as I think I can. But sometimes not even that is enough to prevent breakage.
Greater Basilisk wrote:Smart. That sounds beautiful. Any chance you could take pictures of them catching the sunlight?
Eventually yes. As of right now, no. They are 300 miles away at home, not here at the college. (Much as I wish they could be…)
Greater Basilisk wrote:😯 That is pretty pricey – though I’m sure it’s quite worth it. So what will do with it now? Do you have any windows that size?
Nope. What we did with that piece is my father – who is a phenomenal craftsman in his own right – constructed a round frame for it out of maple and stained it. Then we got some brass chain and loops, and it’s hanging in front of the guest room window (on the inside) instead of being set permanently in the frame as a window. The horses piece is done in a similar manner – it’s hanging in front of my window in the same manner. That way I can move them around if I so desired – plus it was cheaper than triple-glazing them to make them into permanent windows, and made sure they stayed a lot lighter. x.x
Eherm. Whoops. I’m guessing since this was moved, I put it in the wrong spot. *feels like a stupid newb all over again* x_x
Greater Basilisk wrote:I bet! Just for curiosity’s sake, how much would you charge for the griffin circle?
Urrf. Good question. I’d have to think about that. That one has huge sentimental value attatched to it. My Godfather and I spent a long time working together on it… it’s a time that even now I miss. I don’t think I’d part with it except for a price that was well above and beyond it’s worth.
But if I didn’t have an attatchment to it, and someone wouldn’t have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands… probably around $10,000 or so. That is a bit more than pieces that are usually that size, but I used some fairly pricy glass for the gryphons.
Greater Basilisk wrote:That’s so cool, zorse! Mom just started glass-makingm but she’s “just” doing plates and bowls – very nice ones.
Do you sell those big artworks?Yes. I sell both patterns and the actual pieces, as well as taking on and making stained glass on a case-by-case comission status. But… given just how many man-hours goes into the production of such a piece… not a lot of people can afford them. Plus the big pieces are so fragile when done, the only way to make sure they get to thier new owners effectively is to hand-deliver them. It’s a really involved process. >.<
I suppose I’m making this thread cause I severely wish I had a studio space to work on stained glass again. I really do miss working with the glass. I don’t even have the room in my dorm to hang one of my good pieces in. But I do have pictures of my better pieces… just thought I’d post them, and geek out if anyone else here was a stained glass craftsperson. But, it just so happens my specialty is *large* and *detailed* pieces of stained glass with a rather unorthodox leading method.

My first piece I ever made. Total 536 pieces, and three feet in diameter. This was done from a celtic design of gryphons I had tucked into a sketchbook. This took about a year to produce. The red gryphon is my favorite – the red glass the forequarters are made out of isn’t made anymore sadly, but it’s a livid ruby with sapphire patches and flecks – the picture does no justice. The eyes are fuzed glass, and were a lot of fun to produce. My Godfather and I spent many hours working on this one together.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/buckskinmare/celtic011.jpg
Second piece I ever made. This one was 636 pieces and three feet by three feet. This is my personal favorite out of all my pieces, and currently inhabits my bedroom window at home. The eyes are fuzed glass, and that wonderful blue glass has a rainbow sheen when seen close up in real life.I have designed several other windows for clients, but I don’t have very good pictures of them on hand. A piece I just designed for my Godfather has just over 1600 pieces, and is in production currently. I hope to have pictures sometime this century. *snicker*
But… yeah. One of my more unusual hobbies.

If you don’t mind me asking, do you know what city you’ll be moving too? There are several collectors in the area. Wolflodge of this forum lives just a few miles from me, lol! Anyways, it’s a wonderful place to live. I’m just loving it here! ^^
As a matter of fact, I’m moving to SLO. Wolflodge mentioned you were around that area too. I’m excited to move.
Oh cool! We should have a girly Windstone lunch together sometime, lol! ^^
I would be honored. And it certainly doesn’t hurt to get to know some people in the area. You can always scope out my myspace page (see www link) to find out a little more about me!
Oh my goodness! Another bay area windstone fan!
I used to live in Millbrae right up 101 from San Jose. Unfortunately the area wasn’t very condusive to being able to keep horses, so two years ago, my family sold the house there and moved to a ranch in Redding.
I got off on a tangent there, but it’s so cool finding people in local areas! 😀 Maybe I should throw a windstone camp at my ranch… hmmm…
