Hi there. Dunno if anyone will have any of these, or want to part with them, but I’m looking for these unicorns:

    Male White Unicorn
    Young White Unicorn
    Young Black Unicorn
    White Grand Unicorn
Black Grand Unicorn (Haha! I know. It’s wishful thinking, but I thought I’d post the wanted ad anyway.)

I don’t care if they aren’t mint, have their original boxes or hangtags, just so long as they don’t have huge chunks missing from them. Rubs, fleabites, and minor dents are okay. I’m sure I can fix those with enough patience.

    Thanks!

*sticks her nose back in after a long absence*

Hi there again guys. Life has granted me enough luxury time again to spend some time on this board. So… here I am as time allows…

Anyways. I won this guy off ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Windstone-Editions-Male-Unicorn_W0QQitemZ200153084473QQihZ010QQcategoryZ35873QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And from the pictures I can tell that he is flat-up filthy, probably worse than the pictures show. He is going to need a bath and/or a deep cleaning like no tomorrow. So, I wanted to know how you guys clean your windstones aside from the usual light dusting here and there, since this guy is going to require more than a dust rag to clean him up.

And as a side note, this might be a good sticky? You know… kinda falls under the “Care and feeding of windstones”.

Second idea! Make a sticky all about the “care and feeding of windstones” with links to discussions about touch-ups, re-sculpts, cleaning up dirty windstones…etc.

I hate to have to post this. I know I’m one of the quieter members of the board… I don’t really post much unless I have something to say… but…

Something has happened in my life I can’t get a grip on. I try to rationalize, and it just keeps making itself worse. I’ve gone off my food… anything I put into my mouth tastes like dust, and I can’t swallow it. I lie awake at night with my mind whirring. I’m so tired, both emotionally and physically that I just can’t keep up with things I enjoy. Until I deal with this emotional and mental blow, I’m going to be MIA here.

Sorry to clutter the board with my bad tidings of lurkerdom. But I wanted to say something before vanishing into the wild blue yonder.

in reply to: Paint stripping? #594113

I got a baby unicorn that’s needs a little tender-loving-care in the paint department. I want to do a new paintjob, but I’d like to know… for those of you who restore and/or repaint these things… what do you use to remove the original paint?

Hate to be a stick in the mud here. But I had to throw in my two cents.

I did not sign that petition, because I want to know exactly who is endorsing it, and who it was written by. As of right now, I have neither the time for energy to look it up. If that bill is endorsed by PETA, ALF, or any other animal rights extremists, I will not support it at all – regardless of the content. Until I stand corrected, I am going to assume that this is yet another bill by animal rights activists. I have amassed a great deal of justified anger at these people after living at an institution that was on the sh*t-list of many said groups due to the collection of student animals.

Now. To the act of killing and skinning animals. This is a barbaric, and bloody process, hands down. Guess what? This same bloody practice is used to butcher your meat if you purchase it from a store.

In my opinion, if you aren’t willing to go clobber Bessie over the head, or twist a chickens neck until it is dead, then you have no right putting it in your mouth, or taking it’s skin. Such matters of life and death are taken for granted to a sickening degree – all you see are the neatly packaged pieces of meat in your supermarket, or the lovely fur coats for sale in clothes stores. This is not to say that I disapprove of meat or fur, but you had damn well better be willing to take the responsibility of that animals life into your hands, and think about what you do. If I ever own a fur coat, it will be from animals I have had to trap, skin, and gut myself. As it is, I had a chicken for dinner tonight that I killed myself not two hours before it got chopped up, and roasted in the oven.

Responsibility for stuff like this starts right at home. Think about what you put in your mouth, and what you wear. If you aren’t willing to take the responsibility, then do not eat it, or wear it.

    Just my two cents.

Dragons are fantasy animals. So it doesn’t really matter if they had butterfly wings, feathered wings, or no wings at all. So long as one has the imagination, a dragon made out of rocks, or even custard could fly.

Hey, if my fierce horses can take down gryphons and dragons, then dragons can certainly have butterfly wings!

I really like the one that dragonessjade picked out as well. Would I be able to get a print of that one?

Also, do you take commissions? I’m curious and would like to know your prices.

    Thank you.

I gladly take commissions and/or trades. Price is of course, variable depending upon level of detail, size, and medium, but all prices are negotiable, and I do trade art for stuff I’m looking for. (Not that anyone would actually trade me a windstone for my art, but hey! It was worth trying, right?)

Prices start at about $20 for a detailed character drawing in graphite on 8.5″x11″ paper, and work up from there.

    Tattoo/tribal/black and white designs are $20 for a 4″ x 4″ design, $30 for a 5″x5″ design… etc.

The stained glass style designs I’m offering on special are $50 for a 11″ x 14″ drawing, inked, and colored with no piece limit.

I’m not set up yet to actually make custom glass suncatchers, but they will be available in the future.

I’m pretty flexible with what mediums I can and will use, as are the prices. If you’ve got something in mind, drop me a PM, and maybe we can work something out. 🙂

I found quite a few that I liked, but I don’t think I can afford them right now.

    Thanks! ^^;

That piece is actually a photoshop manipulation of a a drawing I did. I’d have to go to kinkos and get a print of that.

Which brings up a good point! All standard-sized (8.5×11″) prints of art are all $10.

    😯 Somebody doesn’t like griffins! 😉

I quite liked your ‘Far Away’ black and white. It’s beautiful. 😀

    Quite the contrary!

I like gryphons quite a bit. My boyfriend associates himself with a gryphon, just as I associate myself with a horse. Quite the odd couple when you consider that normally such creatures are enemies!

The pictures with a horse getting a smackdown on the gryphon to me are an amusing little twist of the scythian artwork that always pictures gryphons getting the upper hand on horses. So, it’s nothing personal, just my little twist of inverting the traditional!

I had fully intended on getting one of the emerald peacock old warriors for myself this week. But as we all know, things happen, and the old warrior money I had set aside is going to fix my car, along with a large chunk of my paycheck.

So, I am offering my art for sale in the hopes I can get my old warrior fund back, and get one.

Here is where I have a small portion of my artwork http://buckskinmare.deviantart.com/
    – most of what you see on there is for sale, and I also take on comissions. Right now, I’m offering a special on stained glass style pieces like this one:
    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54879229/
(I only need to sell six to get my fund back!)

11″ by 14″ fully inked and colored, unlimited pieces with background, or border of your choice – $50.

Alaskan style character drawings 8.5×11″ in bold black and red ink: $25.
    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/41528978/?qo=16&q=by%3Abuckskinmare&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps

    Sketches – $15.
    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/44574013/?qo=12&q=by%3Abuckskinmare&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps

    Prints: $10.

Please do not hesitate to ask about anything!

    Any bit helps!

Just putting a little notice up. I’m eager to try my hand at some custom colors on unicorns/ki-rins/pegasi… etc.

So, if anyone has a busted hoofer that wouldn’t mind letting go, I’ll be happy to buy it.

I love that collection, zorse. Those pelts are beautiful! Where do you find that stuff?

In *tons* of places. Flea markets, eBay, garage sales… a lot of the bones you see I scavenged from dead animals I found, then cleaned the bones myself. In any event, a lot of the stuff I get is in pretty sorry shape. I spend many hours meticulously restoring what I find.

I finally took pictures of my dead things collection:

Bull kudu skin – the skin is so big, only place it fits is on my bed. So that is where it is (temporarily) homed.

The ones to not make it in these photos are the wolf candlelamp, the emerald old warrior, peacock rising spectral, and the dragon sconce.

Please ignore the dead things all around my room. >.> I collect those too.

Nice collection. I still have to buy a Hippogrif one of these days. (Oh and was that a white fox pelt hanging behind the red fox pelt? Lovely pelts, do you have a Hokkaido pelt? I think of the red foxes they are the prettiest.)

holy cow! am i right in seeing you have a BRIGHT peacock regular oriental dragon?! i saw it hiding! squeal!! lucky you! congrats! wow! where did you manage to find her/him?

Yes, you are seeing a light colored regular oriental.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/buckskinmare/DSCN1745.jpg I got reeeeeeally lucky and found the set last year for *retail* price at a store that sold windstone (No need to ask about retired pieces from that place. I cleaned them out soon as I found them. *evil grin*) I snapped them up quick as I could flip out my Visa.

(I realize this next bit is off topic, but since it was asked here, might as well reply here. Please ignore if you dislike dead animal bits)

And I have no idea what a hokkaido is. I took some pictures of my dead things collection if anything matches up as being one:

EDIT: Removed this section because it was off-topic too far. Please see one of the threads about collections to see my skulls/pelts/bones collection in the community section of the forum.
