I wrote a newspaper article on a gentleman who does psanky eggs where I used to live. He only does them during Lent. It was really cool seeing how it was done and didn’t look to hard so I guess I could always start there.
It’s not hard! Very fun. I used to have a how-to series of photos up on a website…I’ll try to repost them. Anymore it’s easy to order the stuff you need online (and they have all kinds of electrical tools now too that make it easier, but using candles & such is way more fun). I’m interested in how to cut open & shape the eggs… I guess she started with a pinhole like you use for blowing the eggs?
Happy Birthday! Getting a windstone?
How cool! Do you know how she carved them? Have you ever thought about learning to make new ones? (It’d be a lot of fun to do when your son gets old enough to participate.)
We learned psanky when we lived in Canada (early 80’s) and our neighbors were Ukranian. We still do some every year around Easter (so I know what you mean about eggs being tough & delicate at the same time).Congrats! Enjoy your party! Eat cake!
These are great! Thanks, keep them coming!
(Anybody seen the “why sumo is better than karate” video with the fat cat & kitten?)Quote:emerald212 Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 9:11 am Post subject:

Well, this almost completes the family, I would like a sitting chick in pearl.Purplecat, I got plenty of chocolate and plenty of excitement with my new Griffin. Thank You again, he is probably even prettier in person…he will also be my only PYO….
Kaya (PS everyone can just call me Kaya, the keschete is for Kaya Eschete)
People just usually call each other by their Forum name. It will be hard to remember a name that isn’t right in front of us when there are so many of us here.
besides…. Keschete sounds really cool.
Wait! Keep squeaking for AL!

Autumn leaf curlie or young dragon.
AL curlie would be so great… probably not gonna happen? 🙁 What are the chances that black em pea will be done in production? (Like a scratcher!)This forum’s only a year old? Wow! That makes me feel a little better that I didn’t find it sooner.
Love this spring/summer weather… still wearing jeans in the cool breeze, so it’s perfect. Soon the NM sun will be baking our yard but for now we’ve been eating picnic lunches outside and still able to have tea parties without it seeming too hot.
Although, neighbors got a beehive (which is kinda cool) and my 3 yr old is terrified of bees and won’t stay outside by herself now (though she loves being out). I guess the fear is kinda instinctual, so not sure how to get her over it.Well, if I go anytime soon I hope my family keeps at least some of them, ’cause I intend to stick around and watch my kids grow up and I’d like to look at my dragons occassionally! 😀
Seriously, I think my family would keep some, but this thread does make me think it’s time to write a will.8 years is a LONG time to want something so badly, and I know it will always hurt to not have the happiness & support of your extended family, but the nuclear family is now you & your husband & baby to come, and you guys will support & love each other. Hopefully your mom will want to be a part of that, but if she doesn’t you’ll still have this whole new part of you to enjoy. (Husband’s mom is crazy, selfish & cruel, so I protect my kids, but understand why he keeps trying ’cause it is his mom, and I watched my mom go through that too. It is hard to cut off family, though sometimes it becomes necessary.)
You’ve mentioned that your husband is ill, and terminal… I can’t imagine how scary that is on top of everything else. Hopefully we can help you focus on being pregnant and happy! Maybe you’ll actually have cravings for pickles and ice cream! (I agree with the earlier comment about cravings: I wanted to have them, but never did.)

And now the question of what is the difference between an emerald and a jade oriental is answered.
The one I just bought from Safiye is apparently jade. I guess I won’t be repainting him Koi, after all.
Can you post pics of em & jade together? I’d like to see the difference.
Congrats! To both Keschete & Purplecat!
So cute! Great names too. Purpledoggy: I hope you never change your avatar, ’cause it makes me smile.
Congratulations! How far along are you? And your mom’s attitude may very well change once the baby’s here. (ever hopeful) So glad your world’s about to be rocked! 😀
I’m actually watching the auction and finding myself rooting for Keschete.
