ah but therein lies the question, who’s education? Education is designed to make you into a working part of society. It does not necessarily mean any type of enlightenment, its more a of a mold. Remember that Nazi Germany had required education as well. The world I think would have been better without that education.
I like the 5 dollar coupon for cat food better.

Engaged to a WeaselIf you love what you do in college and put your time and effort into it you’ll do well. I wish I could offer helpful advice on the other front, which sounds like its weighing on you more, but I’ve only been in the position of the very good friend. Only the girl that I respected and loved dumped her boyfriend and then stopped talking to me because she was interested in a better looking guy. It’s a painful position for all of you to be in, maybe things just got too serious too soon. Don’t listen to me I have no idea what I’m talking about.

Some of the names these days are down right silly and I think the parents should start saving in case the child stuck with a weird name wants to change it. I think it was Australia that refused to let a couple name their kid 4Real so they are planning on naming him Superman. But that’s just me.
It was in New Zealand and ‘Superman’ has been turned down too.
My dad also suggested ‘Mergatroid’ for all us. Yeah he can be a bit of a goof at times 🙄
I would have loved to be named Megatroid. It has a transformers ring to it. 😆

Engaged to a WeaselAlthough this is different from anything else that people have suggested, it’s the one book I think everyone should read. Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield. If you you didn’t like 300 because of its lack of realism or if you would just like more story and substance on the battle of thermopylae this book is for you. The story is fantastic and the descriptions are vivid. however its not for the younger crowd its a realistic war book but it has many references to mythology that are very interesting.

Ah but you forget that a couple hundred years ago you would have been forced to wear a dress, marry when you’re fifteen to a 30 year old, be completely subservient to men…it goes on and on…are you sure everything has changed for the worse? Plus long ago there were no sig automatics.

The old one was over 60 kb. If you don’t like the quote I can change it no problem at all. I’m not the best when it comes to coming up with witty text. I always save my PSD files with all the layers so if I need to change some thing I can.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/pegasi1978/windstone/greaterbasilisk.jpgHow about; “if birds of a feather flock together, this explains forest fires.”
or: “You light up my life”
or: “and birds always thought they were safe from fire…”

Engaged to a WeaselAugust 10, 2007 at 5:57 am in reply to: Harry Potter DH **SPOILER THREAD** DO NOT ENTER unless read! #602796Welll I just managed to prise the book from my sister’s keepings (who has been wanting us all to wait until she read the book first, but she’s to busy with school reading) and read it in two days. I thought it was amazing!!! I made the decision to read it after walking into a room and over hearing a good friend of mine say “I wish they didn’t kill off Fred.” I went O.K. that sucks now I have to read this before more incidents like this happen and the entire book is ruined for me.
I really had only one problem with it and that was the whole Ron managing to speak parslemouth after hearing it once or twice. It’s hard to believe that Salazar Slytherin would have made an enchantment that easy to fool, or that Ron could hear every frequency of an odd hissing noise and duplicate it after a few tries. But that was only a minor detail.
I was so sad that they killed off Tonks and Dobby and Fred(even though it was given to me beforehand i was hoping I had misheard). Rowling finds a way of making readers really care about her characters and I was worried for Hagrid, Luna and Neville. Oh and the tragic death of Hedwig and mad eye, so quick to go. But it made the war real and the rest of the characters mortal. The only thing I wish is that they wouldn’t give away that people are going to die in the story in amounts and what not. I feel it cheapens things and becomes more of a gambling game than a real plain interest in the story and seeing it to its end.
Well no matter what I say I really enjoyed reading it. this series caught me up and brought me on a magical ride. I hope children and grand children and great grand children from now on will be taking this ride and enjoying it all the more.

Engaged to a WeaselThe first books I got into reading as a kid were Ronald Dahl’s. I didn’t really like reading before I read one of his books, though i can’t remember which one i read first. Then I got into a series called the plant that ate dirty socks. I started reading one at a bookstore and read nearly half of it. Then its was all sorts of stuff until I got into the star wars novels. When I was in highschool I would finish the assigned reading as soon as possible and then read my own books. The really annoyed one of my teachers that wanted us all to read along at the same pace. So she started assigning me extra reading books if I finished the assigned book. This backfired however on the first try when she assigned me the lion the witch and the wardrobe which I read the day she assigned it to me and returned the next day, telling her I really enjoyed it.
