I bet the paint problem is due to the shiny top coat he had before. If you encounter that problem again, get some Krylon Matte Finish and spray a good coat of that on before you try to paint.
Nice fix tho, I think I like him better now!! Dan the Dragon Slayer…. 😆
I couldn’t vote, I don;t have an answer. I think it depends on the scultp. I have done some ‘fantasy’ colors on griffs and they either haven’t sold, or have sold so low I may as well have kept them. If we are talking about the wolves, I think any natural color would do well. Personally, I’m not one for a purple wolf, so I always look to a real canine for color inspiration. Now, dragons, I have done well with bright, dark, light, neutral, etc….I haven’t done any kirins lately, but again, I go more towards browns and neutrals….Unicorns *ugh* I haven’t a clue…
I think it also depends on where you plan to sell. Ebay can be your best friend one day and a total let down the next. I’ll be honest in this. I have done some really pretty dragons that end up going for $55. I have also done dragons that have gone for over $300. I’m thinking about taking some with me to the craft shows I do in the summer…
How is that for an easy answer? 😆
Im in…Cant wait!
December 31, 2007 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Online place to get practice ceramic/bisque stuff? #651056I got an airbrush & compressor for xmas and I want to start painting….but I don’t want to sacrifice a windstone. I looked at michaels, ac moore and walmart and none have the little figurines. Are there any inexpensive places to get them online that you guys have dealt with? I don’t wanna get a box full of mosiac pieces 😆 TIA!
I’m in this time around too!! This is going to be fun! Should I PM now or wait until the official start of January?
santa spoiled me this year!! He got me an airbrush & compressor!! I can’t wait to start playing with them. lol! Let’s see, the kids got cool stuff…son got an r/c lego dinosaur, star wars lego driod ship thing and 2 battle tanks he has to share with his Dad. Daughter got a fur real friends s’mores pony and a pink magic barbie vanity w/ all the little girlie accessories…Hubby got a night vision monocular w. infrared, some boots and the 2 battle tanks he has to share w. son…And that was just here….My folks got us cool stuff, a new crock pot, gift certificates….My inlaws got us cool stuff too and best of all, my sister in law got me enough henna & indigo to last me the next 6 months….It was a great christmas this year, and I got to leave the mess at someone else’s house this year too…
Super! Thanks Ski!
I’m gonna enter too. Do I send my personal info w/ the picture or do I PM Ski?
December 12, 2007 at 2:21 am in reply to: Woke up this morning and my hand wouldn't work lol #644751Hows the hand? It probably is just from fluid retention. I remember with my daughter, the last month or so I would get this place on my thigh that felt wet. I mean it would feel EXACTLY like my pants were wet on the top of my thigh, about 5 inches above my knee. I would look, feel, no wet anything anywhere….Just from pinched nerves, boy was that wierd! Everytime it would happen, I;d be like, did my water brake?? 😆
he is back up on ebay….
I’m glad you like him!! They are so much fun to paint!
Yup, the white one was hard….but, that red dragon was the worst! She is SO much prettier in real life. I really like the red pastels I got.
The green and purple muse may get wings, I’m not sure. I’m totally in love with my little goddess muse. She was so much fun to do, and I love how all her little copper ‘tattoos’ came out.
I’m bummed the dragons didn’t do better on ebay. They are all beautiful and they all took some relative skill. The blue one took a gazillion layers of light baby blue, the pastels kept taking on the color of the gypsum. But, thats the chance you take with ebay I guess.
I’m really pleased with how my griffs came out. The grey was a challenge again because I had to do a lot of layers to stop the gypsum from showing thru. I have been trying out some different brands of pastels so I’m not sure if it was just the shade of grey or the pigment in the pastel. *ugh* the white griff was a PITA. She was really hard to keep clean as I was using the grey pastels to barr the wings. As far as difficulty tho, she was pretty quick and easy to do.
I’m working on a unicorn now that is a christmas gift for my youngest cousin(11yo), and then I’m gonna do some black dragons with fun interference colors on them. I’ve got some neat blues and greens and a red interference I’m dying to try out. *crosses fingers* I may get an airbrush from Santa, so that would be fun to use too!
Griffs didn’t sell, I’ve relisted them. BUT if you are interested, PM me an offer and I’ll remove the listing if there are no bids…
Some new stuff….I’m selling all but the muses…
Hey guys! I have a few auctions ending today that are pretty inexpensive right now. If anyone is interested, here are the links…
Thanks for looking!
