I don’t hate you DDVM, no worries! It was all just a weird misunderstanding that got screwed up but hopefully will get better now.

in reply to: 31 Liquitex Acrylic Paints…get them off my hands? #528878

I have a stash of Liquitex tubed paints, both the larger 4 oz. (mainly primary colors) and smaller 2 oz. tubes (the higher quality type in several shades of color running from $5-10+ each) that I’m wanting to get rid of. Note, these are not the type of paints ideally meant for PYOs as the paint is a thicker quality. Yes they can be thinned down to use on PYOs and I’ve done some of that since the paint is higher grade than say, appel barrel…but unless you’re really into it this is the type of paint you’d use on canvas or clayboard, masonite and illustration board. The paints have been used for about 5 total paintings tops, now that I’ve counted, lol, so most tubes are gently used and almost new. A few tubes are brand new.

In trade, I would simply like unpainted PYOs or anything you might think is fitting. If interested, PM me and I’ll give you all the info. on tube sizes, colors, whatever you need.

    That’s one awesome PYO Wolf!

Also, I did tell her about the forum and asked her to join up. She must be aware of it since the link to our PYOs is listed on the auction sites.
As for ddvm and other bidders…I just hope things don’t get out of hand. I don’t want to become part of something really bad if a bidder get screwed or something, but it’s also bad idea for me to contact that bidder since kinda it’s against ebay protocol and I’m not really sure I can actively do that anyway since I’m not a bidder on that. Unfortunately Ebay has a lot of rules to that end and she can’t make certain changes anymore to the auctions either this far in and with bids. I am photographing my unpainted PYOs so she can use those for her web site. I just don’t know what else to do from here.

in reply to: Hey Watergazer, are these your auctions?? #528505

She has made changes to the auctions she could…unfortunately since there have been bids she wasn’t able to alter a whole lot of the text or bump my name up to the top area since you can’t change stuff much after bids were placed, just added to. And I guess she couldn’t remove the images for this reason either.

As for the web site thing, I wasn’t aware of that and that will have to change. That’s going a little too far. She did write me back with a lot of apology for all this since she didn’t intend this is turn into this kind of affair. Apparently she hasn’t yet bought the sculpts…obviously, or she’d post photos of the unpainted ones she got, and will buy after the auctions close. I did tell her this was just a bad situation and a lot of people feel she is misrepresenting, and I think she sees that now but can’t change anything about it with EBay.

That, or maybe I really am too gullible when it comes to helping support other artists I am just too willing to accept these things and/or try to smooth things over too much. I did say in the future these should not be used again and she must use her own, and to be wary of bidders who are expecting that kind of paint job done on their piece…that they need to get what they pay for. I really do feel that she meant to do the right thing, but it just went all wrong. As an artist I can understand not wanting to invest in a product if it will not sell in the end. I fight these decisions every day…but I do take my loses and $30 is not a real loss. She should have painted one and then sold it on ebay and kept it as an example. In the future she’ll be doing this.

As for me, I will say that the auctions did get me at least one person who got interested in a commission because they saw I had my brown dragon up and likewise saw the others from CopperDragon’s auctions with my name thereon. So at least some good has come of this now that my name is spelled out right on the auction.

Well, if I win it I can do the cutting myself no problem. Also, do you have plastic cases or sleeves for your cards? If not, I can hook you up since I bought two cases of ’em.
I need to do some scratchboard ones myself but don’t know if my tools will work out…I think my nibs are dull.

I wasn’t aware of that Nessie…I will look into that. I haven’t heard back yet but email stuff can be really slow. May not know anything until tonight.

I love your new scratchboard ones best!

in reply to: Neko Cats #528600

Does anybody out there have one of Melody’s Neko Cat figures? I know I probably asked this before but I’m still interested in having one and willing to do a PYO trade for one.

in reply to: Does this happen to you?? #528532

I get that a lot as well, and loose commissions because I simply say no. But copyright law is copyright law. Just because some people may draw a taz on a shirt and sell it doesn’t make it right. A lot of non-painters want to get the Windstone PYO sculptures because they are unique sculpts and they, as collectors, want at least one of everything…so they try to get matching paint jobs to go with their sets, but you just gotta tell them it’s against the copyright and most of the time they understand. In some cases though they say they will find someone else to do it for them.

It’s not always easy to handle clients. Dealing with the public is never easy and misunderstandings can happen and sometimes clients can get very upset over things. I have had people tell me they wanted a piece painted like a Goldenwolf piece of art, or like Vantids winged wolves, or of other people’s PYOs. Personally, if someone wants a copy of my PYO job they really should come to me, or go to the person whose PYO paint job they liked and request the commission.

Don’t worry Ski, it’s better you turn them down now than have to deal with problems in the future.

in reply to: Golden Griffin #528521

Really, your favorite? I guess it’s true then that simple is sometimes better. This is probably the only griffin I was able to spend less than 20 hours on! And that’s really because the color scheme was just more simple and less demanding. I’d love to see you do one like this Arlla. It’s really kinda a stereotypical look for a griffin besides the bald eagle version so no worries on taking anyones design idea.

in reply to: Hey Watergazer, are these your auctions?? #528474

No, you’re absolutely right about this, and I admit I’m not happy about this, but I am a bit more…I don’t know…I always do try to support other artists when I can and this was all a big misunderstanding since the photo I told her she could use was the PYO lineup photo of unpainted sculptures and she could see samples of my paint jobs on DA, and she just thought I meant all of my colored ones she could use I guess. I have written her mails to that end so we’ll see what happens when she gets to them. I think she’s good intentioned and really only wants to have a reason to paint her Windstone PYOs but just wants to do it under commission first. I think in the end she’ll do the right thing. I’d hate to have people think less of her for this. It’s all just a mistake.

in reply to: Hey Watergazer, are these your auctions?? #528472

It’s not the best situation. I’ll see what I can do…I just hate situations like this…don’t want anybody’s feelings hurt.

in reply to: Golden Griffin #528517

True, you almost can’t avoid brushstokes in hand-done work. Sometimes that’s good, and othertime annoying, lol. But I’ll give both a try. At any rate I can use the airbrush for my car painting, which is the true reason for my geting the airbrush really.

BTW, I wanted to mention that these photos show the griffin a little purpleish but I think it’s too redundant for me to keep saying my camera sucks and can’t capture the reality of what my paint jobs look like. I really need to invest in a high quality camera, it’s just that I have bigger bills to pay.

in reply to: Golden Griffin #528515

I bought a cheapie airbrush before the car accident and plan to learn how to use it on a non-Windstone, then try doing bases on these PYOs before detailing and see how that works…but I do enjoy painting by hand because it does give you a lot of control…but if you can’t keep all of your paint wet you run into problems blending, so the airbrush idea might not work out. I was too chicken to try it on this PYO, being a commission.
