I want to punch that snotty little pink fledgeling right in the snout.
Okay, not really. Maybe just bap it with a newspaper to wipe the bratty look off its face.

(Joking aside, it’s very well painted!)

I think all the fledglings look smug. I agree though, the Pink one takes it to a new level. Hmmm … I wonder what expression a Pink Rising Spectral would have? 😉

The Laps always look like they’re smirking to me. I think that’s why I like them better than the Mothers. LOL

That Kirin is one of the few of that sculpt that I’ve been really attracted to. It just seems like the “magic” paint was absolutely made for it!

I’d definitely echo the more patina crowd for tail and rock. Personally, I’d also either darken/antique or patina her hair a bit more too–it’s more pinkish in tone than her skin. Use that pinkish tone & a bit of gold for highlights on the skin instead (looks at copper male sitting next to me, where both colors help define muscle and add accent.)

I’m normally a fan of “less is more” as far as the turquoise patina goes, but in this case I think it needs a little heavier hand. Neat idea though, can’t wait to see the finished result!

We do our own hosting, but one of my client sites actually has this problem fairly regularly.

When we put up certain popular products, we’d get so many order attempts in such a short time, that the store would sell more than we had.

We ended up changing the store code to debit something from inventory as soon as it was added to the cart to allow time to check out and not oversell. If the item isn’t fully checked out within an hour, it automatically drops back into available stock.

Not sure if something like that would help you or not. 🙂

It doesn’t have to be an hour either, the time can be set to nearly anything. When I buy Mariners tickets, for example, I’m given something like a minute to decide if these are the seats I want, and then a total of just five minutes to complete the order process (at least, the part on my end with all the input fields, they don’t count processing time on their end.) If you don’t complete the process in time, the seats you’ve selected go back into the general pool for distribution.

It’s still a *little* nerve wracking, but I’ve been through the process a number of times now and they really do have the timing for each step set appropriately for their server capacity.

As for patience, I’m not patient at all, ever…but I’m both sympathetic and completely understand how much work this is going to be, especially if you’re short handed. Wish you guys were closer than a few hours’ drive, I’d gladly come lend a hand!

OH! That’s the silver lap I kept eyeing the whole time she was up, thinking I should just give up my dream of the CP and go after her instead. I’m so glad to see she went to a home that will love her dearly! Congrats!

These are the most amazing pieces! I can’t get over Volcano, but they’re all just stunning. Beautiful, beautiful work.

in reply to: POOF! That was fast! #871212

Ya’ll lied to me!! XD Half hour my butt! Buahaha!

Hey – I didn’t know that the store could handle orders that fast! 🙂 I was sure that it was going to crash. Glad you got your order through.

Having done time in IT, I’m pretty sure there was a whole lot of swearing going on in the network operations center for the site host!

If the servers could have handled the load, I think it would have been under five minutes for them to sell out.

I got one! Eeeeeeep! *passes out*

LOL–I will never again complain about trying to get concert tickets or seats for Opening Day baseball. Both are less nerve-wracking than this was!

Good thing they ended up being one per customer I guess. WOW!

That’s my thought–it really is going to be the fairest way to handle the demand.

It’s way worse than you think. At one point earlier, there were over 230 watching the forum. There’s going to be a massive spike at 5.

    Best of luck to everyone!

I really think Hotdog should be the next raffle prize. That way, only those willing to accept and cherish his unique flavor need enter, and those who expect perfection don’t have to deal with his (minescule) flaw. We’ll know for certain he’ll be in a loving home that way.

And I agree, his name should be on his pad! LOL

Ok. You guys are officially nuts.

    You just noticed now?

    wait, I’m confused…

    I thought it was required?

    Not required, just highly recommended.

Noooooo….I’m with LIH on this one. It’s pretty clearly a requirement.

    and oh yeah…SAVE HOTDOG!

I didn’t get to see tonight’s livestream due to a migraine, but any uni that dedicated deserves to go to a loving home! Save Hotdog!

in reply to: Am I The Only One…. #870853

Oh goodness, yes. And it’s especially horrifying as I have to keep track of about a billion things since I’m self employed. I always seem to lose my Sales Tax permit, which is 100% necessary to have for selling at an event, about two days before the event…

Jennifer, I had to laugh at this one, because it reminds me of my husband. One year, he managed to get himself on a game show, and of course, one of the requirements was that you had to “bring this packet with you” when you showed up for taping, along with proof of your social security number–otherwise you were immediately disqualified. I stayed in charge of the packet, of course…but it didn’t occur to me to get that stupid number.

This was literally a once in a lifetime deal. Naturally, we’ve flown to the location for taping, it’s the night before, he’s already taken a sleeping pill and is pretty woozy when it dawns on him he’s forgotten that bit.

I still laugh when I think about him half asleep, trying to work out where online we’re going to be able to find proof we can print out (I can’t remember now where we did, but we did), and the trip down to the hotel’s business center at two in the morning, with me all but carrying him and my laptop, all to print out one lousy page.

Needless to say, he was way too sleepy to remember any of it, and I’m now in charge of things like boarding passes and passports, since I’m marginally the better of the two of us!

What, the rest of you only do this with PAPER?! I’m seriously envious!

Around here, unless it has a very specific assigned spot AND I’m the only one to ever touch it or use it, it disappears into this rats’ nest of a two-collector/too many hobbies house, and if we’re lucky, it might show up again before we buy a duplicate (that will also likely disappear).

My husband, God love him, puts all the cooking utensils away in different drawers every single time he empties the dishwasher. (Thankfully, he also is the primary cook.)

So no, you’re not the only one by a long shot! LOL

in reply to: Found, thanks!: CP/Teal Lap Dragon #870685

The over 10 day bump. Still holding out hope and somehow standing up to other temptations…like GB unis… LOL

a GB Uni, if it turns out to be a good one, could be a big trade incentive to someone who might be holding out on their CP Lap. I love this dragon as well but I can wait to see if they come back into stock once the horn thing is figured out.

Just a thought 😉 that’s what seems to be coming up soon that people are making the biggest fuss over. If you go that route I *hope* you get a really nice Uni to use as incentive (Unless of course you fall in complete love. Which I think could be easy with them, lol)

LOL–I know, I’ve seriously considered that route. But the fear is exactly as you said: a) I’ll fall in love with the uni or b) I won’t get one that gets me to this end goal. And realistically, if I’m going to spend $100 give or take on that, well, why not just add it to the offered price? If someone took me up on it tonight, heck, THEY could use the extra towards the GB.

I still might take the chance, but oh Lordy, way too much money spent or committed this week. And with my luck, I’ll end up with an untradeable one.
