I do not think any one here is talking about a case that some one wants to legitimately breed an animal. Breeders are very important, reliable breeders are invaluable.
In the case of animals like this, isn’t there a different cost or paperwork for buying animals for breeding? Most of the Savanah cat, Bangals, and other specialty cat and dog breeders I have looked up REQUIRE you to fix the animals you buy from them unless you buy for breeding, then thier prices were listed as different and some required you to show you had a breeders liscence.
I know reptile and bird breeding and selling seems to be very different from most mamal breeders.
From what I read with the cat breeders, the liscence and difference in fee was to make sure they were selling to some one who was going to be a reliable breeder, and also to keep the vallue of thier blood lines intact.
So I wonder if the fox place has a breeders purchase option or if it is absolutely mandatory that all purchases are fixed.
It’s also possible that there may be some limitations due to importation as well.
I bet there are many limitations. For one it is Russia and I am sure it is being funded by the Russian Government. It would not surprise me if or when they end this research they would destroy the remaining foxes that are not adopted. If you watch the video they have also breed foxes that are super aggressive. This genome research fascinates me.
They took a baby from an aggressive mother and put it with a domestic mother and the baby grew up aggressive. This is Nature vs Nurture. It seems mammals are born with genes that affect their personality. So it seems I really might have inherited my dad’s Irish temper.
Not only does it pose the question of Nature Vs Nurture but instead of domestication taking thousands of years it seems to only take decades. Truly fascinating.

Jennifer wrote:Keeping foxes is not necessarily all that it’s cracked up to be. Foxes do not equal dogs or cats.. even domesticated foxes!
Be completely sure of what you are getting into.I’d highly recommend contacting and talking to my friend Foxfeather (yes this is her legal name) as she has kept foxes and can give you the low down on what it really means to share your home with them.
http://foxloft.com/contactThank you the link Jennifer. We are doing our research. I need as many people opinions and information I can get. Mom isn’t in the dark about foxes. She use to work with wild ones that got hurt and ended up at the wildlife rescue at the university of Tennessee.
I agree with PC. It is a lot of money. I personally would rather save that kind of money for a new car or my wedding coming up. But this is moms money and I am not going to tell her how to spend it. As long as she is happy in the end is all I care about.
I get a lot of my Windstones in Gatlinburg! Welcome to the forums!
Sechan wrote:I would REALLY google the sibfox place. They may be a scam. They have very little in the way of fox care info on the site and it seems a little cookie cutter. Also the price is really high. They seem to be a broker on American soil that may or may not be getting these foxes from the Siberian farm. It would probably even be cheaper if you could find a way to order one directly from the Siberian farm and not through the middle man. There’s simply no way this person isnt doing this for ridiculous profit, and on top of that, they neuter them, so they are trying to corner a market it looks like.
Seems shady.
If you go to the actually Farms site http://www.bionet.nsc.ru/booklet/Engl/EnglLabaratories/LabEvolutionaryGeneticsAnimalsEngl.html it refers you back to sibfox. They have already emailed me back with answers to all our questions. We bought a Friesian Stallion from the Netherlands. It cost way more for his paper work and transportation than I care to say. Not just that he had to be in quarantine for 2 months. Which you the owner have to pay for. It was a very expensive. Way more than these little guys. So I can see where importing an exotic animal from Russia would be expensive. Sibfox also has a money back guarantee if you are displeased or if it dies. Honestly I don’t think my mom cares to much about the money. My Dad left her a large estate when he passed away. I haven’t seen my mom get so giddy over something since he died. She is truly smiling and it isn’t forced.
As for them being neutered, they have been breeding these foxes for over 50 years as an experiment for genomes. I could see why they wouldn’t like them to breed outside their facility. The main reason why they are now available is so they don’t have to be sold to fur farms. The lead scientist talks about that in the article in National Geographic.
If it doesn’t work out then it wasn’t meant to be. But I hope it does for my mom’s sake. She is acting like a little kid, shes 66, and I know my dad would have bought one for her if he was still here.
I recently got a National Geographic that had it’s main article about a genome experiment on domesticating foxes. I did some more research and its amazing. These foxes are breed to be like a dog, they even wag their tails. They get along with other cats and dogs even children. Whats sad is they have to many foxes and have to sell many to fur shops. But you can purchase one for a mere $6,000. I might just say to my honey, screw a nice honeymoon, lets get a fox!
Awesome Video on the project

http://www.sibfox.com/EDIT:
OMG my mom is getting one. She just got me to email the distributer. She has been in love with foxes since she was a little girl. Her whole house is decorated with all things fox. She actually cried we she watched the video. Apparently she had known about this breeding program in the 80s but the foxes were never available as pets. I am very excited for her.Yeral wrote:I miss Rift already! Thursday can’t come soon enough ><
Does anyone know if they are going to allow the client to be downloaded before Thursday’s head start? It would suck to start downloading it on thursday, because it’s going to take me about 10 hours to get.
Yes you can go ahead and start to d/l early. I am going to ask Flare when it will be available.
Sorry about not coming back on the other night. I finally did find my mouse but we have the girls this week and they keep us so busy!
Yeral wrote:Griffinlover – I got an invite to your guild tonight after I signed up on the website – they seem like nice people, the gm is very personable. They were telling me more about the game and omg.. I can’t wait to play it on head start!
Yay! I need to sign on and pick a class to lvl lol.
I named my dog Bubbles hehe and whats funny is she is such an airhead like Bubbles from the Power Puff girls XD

That is the guild website. Just let them know that you are friends with Liz and Steve. Flarestar is the leader and rl friend. I will warn you tho. These people can get crude. Lots of F bombs etc. Nice people just they sometimes go off on silly things. Typical males lol
sagiaparri wrote:At launch, I think we should switch to a different server besides Belmont.. I have been dc’d a few times randomly, it seems to go down more than the others, and it’s full quite a bit.
Noob question, what is the difference in pvp and pvp-rp? Or pve and pvp-rp.II don’t know what servers will be available at launch. There will be alot more than to choose from than in the beta. I unfortunately can’t choose my server. I go where my guild goes. I would make an alt on another server to play with you all.
PvP-RP is Player verses Player and the RP stands for Role Playing. Same for PvE is Player verses Environment and RP is Role Playing.
I Like Role Playing servers but it takes some research to role play. It was easy for me in WoW because I loved to read the lore and all the Novels. Rift lore is a little complex. The Dragon’s are evil and trying to take over with their leader. I am not sure why the Rifts pop up. I know it has to do with the dragons. When i quest I don’t always read the descriptions 😳
Also the players on RP servers take it seriously. Some guilds require a player sheet and a back story of your character. In my experience in WoW RP players are nicer and alot more helpful. The one way to tick them off tho is have a name like Bubbles or Pwny. lol. I found that out the hard way.KoishiiKitty wrote:Jennifer wrote:Pam Thompson wrote:Grrr, everytime I see this thread my heart jumps thinking Jennifer is painting dragons again!
Do you think I should? I’m scared to… hmmm.
scared?? is it because of the market?
Jennifer,
Your dragons and griffins are amazing! If you give us preview, like the lab OW, I know I save my money for something like that.
I was on for a little bit but I didn’t see any of you all on. I will be on later this evening 🙂
I am guessing it’s a UTI as well. My kitty gets UTIs a lot. They will give her some meds and she will be fine. Poor pup tho. I have had a UTI and it was soooo uncomfortable.
Heck yes a green Unicorn! Their is nothing more Irish than that! 😀

I’m crossing my fingers that Sand will become a Limited Production color now 😀
I sure hope so! I love that color. I even like the wings that everyone else seems to not. I think it looks Egyptian hehe
