Well, the difference is I do artwork full-time and currently don’t yet have a chilren’s illustration gig this year yet.
Hey Water, do you have yourself listed on Trafford’s commission-based Talent Pool for art/illustration? Quite a number of people on there, but given your talent, I could see you getting a good amount of work from that. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.
Watergazer wrote:One interesting thing I found out about the famous artist Jody Bergsma…she actually has about a 6 month stay every year in a secondary house where she can focus just on her paintings in sort of seclusion…so the rest of the year she tours and does other things she has to to promote her work. S she paints for a straght half a year and then doesn’t for half a year.
That’s a pretty cool idea, actually (NB: I love Bergsma’s work).
I love hearing about people who don’t follow a typical lifestyle where you do your job 9-5, 5 days a week. There’s this northwest coast artist around here who goes out and essentially ‘lives’ in his kayak for the short summer months, paddling up and down along the coast for incredible distances to paint watercolour scenes, for as long as the winter weather is held at bay. He lives off the land, pays no rent, and then comes back by the first galestorms to work in his rustic studio to finish his initial concepts.
For those with the knowledge and physical ability, I thought the idea was a brilliant and more affordable lifestyle for an artist. Very exciting to see the creative ways people find a living in this world.
Mmmm, hey Mimi, got a hankerin’ for a big bowl of unagi don? *tease tease*
Fish tacos are quite good, and the other toppings can help to somewhat disguise it (never mind makes it taste real good!) A ‘white fish’ like cod or haddock, or halibut works really well in tacos.
I love fish… now I want sushi… hey, if you ever do try sushi, try some unagi (sea eel). It’s cooked/grilled, and usually has a teriyaki sauce on it. One of the best darn fish I’ve ever eaten!
Very nice work, Nam. I love your naturalistic colour schemes for the wolves. The wing details are very attractive.
The gold dragon is pretty impressive! Bet that was a task and a half… 0_0
Aww, that’s great Ski, glad to hear it! No doghouse for him! π
You know, considering I missed out on birthday dinner due to illness (both of us sick, at that!) we should just go out for ONE BIG all-night dinner buffet to make up for it! “Oooog, so much food”…. maybe not such a good idea! π
And I am indeed feeling better, folks, thank you for the well-wishes! ^_^ Just not feeling good enough to wrangle a fancy dinner. Mac and cheese and wieners and beans for us. π

That is really sad… π You go enjoy dinner with your son. Show your sig other how it’s done. π By the way…. ‘pack sand’? Pardon my naivete (happens a lot)… but I think I’m missing the reference. π³
As for myself, due to illness and having been far too busy with work, I will not be up to making duck leg confit for dinner like I had hoped (for my dear friend and I… we celebrate Valentines because we’re so close and it’s all we have in the way of ‘love’). I think we’ll just keep things quiet and relax. There will be 364 other days to express our affections.
Nirvanacat13 wrote:Sorry to jump in late, but I really like the dark plum/wine color you used for the dragon, it seems to fit rather nicely into the Yule/Winter Solstice without making it “Christmasy” Good job, and keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks! π I immediately had a violet/purple hue in mind when I planned it out. I’m a bit more of a pagan individual, so I wanted to do something along that vein. I love the oldest traditions!
Happy Birthday, Akeyla!
Happy Birthday, Silver!
Wow, this is a LOT of February b-days!
Aww gee, thanks guys! π
I didn’t get presents from more than a couple people, so I guess I can’t say which is my fave yet… but I think my copy of Okami for PS2 (didn’t own it yet!) would have to be my favourite thing. ^_^
Other than that, I think my favourite thing was being loved and looked after (had a lousy day yesterday) by my very good friend who lives with me. She’s such a good person.
My chocolate cake with chocolate pudding and chocolate icing wasn’t half bad either! π
She’s taking me out to dinner at some point too, when we’re both feeling better. Mmm, west coast seafood dinner! *drool*

Sorry I’m late getting in on this… I figure I ain’t got the seniority to be making welcome posts with much authority yet but… welcome to the forum! ^_^
I love the art in your avatar btw… is it your own?
ruffian wrote:I bought reign of fire a few weeeks ago at walmart for 10 bucks, look there, that is in Canada too.
Thanks. Actually, I DO have a copy now that I think of it. Bought it used from Blockbuster and haven’t watched it yet. And I have Legend and Labyrinth too I think (as per the other thread). So much stuff unopened/unwatched! π
Dragon Master wrote:I just bought and watched Legend last weekend. My friends did not seem to like it. I LOVED Tim Curry’s make up. I heard it took 18 hours to get him to look like that. Strange I feel like I look like that every morning when I get up
π π Maybe you should be in the film industry instead, DM! Cheaper on prosthetics and makeup for them! You can be an ‘au naturel’ actor. π
Thank you all for the compliments.
*grins* Well, I may normally hmm and haw and delay or abandon personal projects, but this one’s nearly done and I’m feeling pretty eager about getting it completed sooner rather than later. I don’t wanna be staring at it for the next 10 months either! π― π
