DM…Forgot to ask you…how many gold leaf OW’s are there?
AND
I saw that you are from Lodi…Have you ever heard of the Lion’s Den? It’s like a MMA (mixed martial arts/ cage fighting) school, in your town. I’m really into MMA…so thought that it’s cool that you are from there… πWOW, Dragon Master, you’re really living up to your namesake! Do you have a group photo of them? I actually tried to win the Gold Leaf Hatching Empress, the second one I think…How do you display them?

September 6, 2007 at 1:36 am in reply to: Retired, LE, Rare Variant Windstone Price Guide Database #613895Well I just thought it would be more convenient and impressive if we had all that information in one place. I know it’s probably alot of work to compile the information and the pictures, but the finished product would be really useful for new and future collectors. AND you guys are probably the only ones with the knowledge/pictures/value of the rare varients…I’m trying to live up to my namesake here π

Actually, they mostly already have that. It’s at Astral Castle. It doesn’t have the current prices for retired pieces, but it does have almost everything else.
Cool…I checked the site but they don’t have the LE’s, or varients, or the RECENT prices for the retired pieces… I was thinking more on the lines of a growing, evolving list π
September 5, 2007 at 11:08 pm in reply to: Retired, LE, Rare Variant Windstone Price Guide Database #613889Not sure if it exists on this forum yet. I haven’t been able to find one, but thats not saying much π
With the resources(pics) of this Windstone Forum community, I think it would be AWESOME to have an updated guide with pictures of how much the retired/LE/rare varients are going for on ebay or other places.
As a relatively new collector, I know that there are pieces out there that I haven’t seen, but heard referred to. Like I would love to see some of the paint/ eye color varients from the factory. Also,it is helpful to have an idea of how much more seasoned collectors would spend on a piece, while bidding on ebay etc.
It is also interesting to track your pieces, if they go up or down in price. We can set it up as an ULTIMATE Windstone priceguide, with picture, date of retirement, recent selling price range; maybe, something in this format:
Picture& Date Retired/ Price
Name/description ProducedOr maybe we can set it up like the Gallery.
I know there is a list of retired pieces on the main Windstone site but there no pics or suggested prices. I think it would be very useful, and since it will be UPDATED it will always be on the first page. It could also be a place to show off your pieces in a more objective way. What do you guys think? You “old warriors” with your mammoth collections can kick it off πOR Am I being too eager or ambitious for a noobie? π³
September 5, 2007 at 10:16 pm in reply to: Someone has been reading G.R.R Martin π Welcome Khal Drogo! #613420Well Martin was supposed to have Dance with Dragons done the end of last year. If you go on his website, he said he’s busy with remodeling his house or something π He’s worth the wait though, but it doesn’t look like he’ll wrap up the series soon, which is good and bad… π

Wow…how did you manage that?
“They are selling very high right now. One just went for $512!!”
Yup I saw that on ebay too. Even though I dont have a white yet, I think it’s good that they are going up in price.
I collect Thomas Clark gnomes also and for some reason they don’t hold up in value on ebay.
“I think the White emp for $176 or so, was the best deal I have gotten.”
I had a chance to pick up a White Emperor at an Ashley Avery store closing sale for $175, but didn’t because it had a small chip. My wife even said I should and that she would get it for me for a birthday present. Grrrr… πΏ
Ok, I started the thread about the most money you spent on a piece, so I thought it was only fair that I make one about your garage sale/ store closing deals or finds on Windstone pieces; the VanGogh in your aunt’s attic stories. Here’s mine…
I found the following pieces in mint condition at the final day of an estate sale:
1)hatching baby peacock dragon
2)frog wizard
3)frog prince
4)white hatching pegasus
I thought I got them for $5 each, which is a SUPER deal considering their condition, but my wife informed me last night that she talked them down to $3 each. I love her! π
I guess they really didn’t know what they had, because the lady told me they sold a dragon and a large pegasus the day before…I love estate sales… πSeptember 5, 2007 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Someone has been reading G.R.R Martin π Welcome Khal Drogo! #613416I love coffee…in fact I need a cup now π
Wow…makes me feel better now. Yeh, I was shocked also that my wife OK’ed my BG OW. That was the most I spent on Ebay. She loved it when it arrived though.
Was the Black Gold Old Warrior Melody’s first limited edition? I remember telling my wife I HAD to get that because she actually painted it π Is Melody’s daughter still helping with the paint jobs on the later limiteds on ebay?
Love the pics…keep em coming so I can show my wife and get her to OK more π
I remember a couple of years ago one of the Ashley Avery stores was closing down, and I has a chance to buy a white emperor for $175. I didn’t end up getting him because he had a small chip on the tail. My wife even offered to buy him for me as a birthday gift I think. But I said, no…that it wasn’t perfect…that was a dark, dark day, and stupidity worthy of W π₯
Nice repair job though… π
