Emp and Empresses are diff than the reg hatchling which hatches out into a standard Mother or Father Dragon right ? The Emps become the adult Emperor and adult Empress… where do the Old Warriors and Laps fit in ? The Spectrals seem to be a breed of their own.

I like backstories if you can tell..it’s possible there was no ryhme or reason to the sculpts..but I know I like having some kind of idea or story in mind when I do artwork.

Here’s another : Where did the OW get his scars from ? All the other Dragons are spotless..so who was he fighting with ? You would assume another Male… maybe he tackled with an Emperor or even a Kirin or Unicorn..perhaps he was just feisty in his youth but ended up on the bad end of every conflict..so he was clumsy too..though since he made it to old age he learned much from those battles… I think I have a name for my OW when I get him.. OW:Obi Wan … XD

She could still painting full time and be on the pay roll…I don’t see that distance would really be a problem there either..as lots of people work at home and send their work in anymore.

Forgive my ignorance..but wouldn’t refining it just take a little more work to get it smoother ? Or is it an issue with the particular piece of medium she used ?

As said though..I don’t see a problem with the outdoor pieces so if goes that way it just means we could get an Empress a little further on down the road.. 😉 And we don’t have an outdoor piece that matches the rest of the look of the other Windstone Dragons… 😀

Couldn’t they just ship her blanks and let her paint them ? Then she could ship em’ back or just ship them whenever they are purchased.

Might be something to think about.. a lot of artists have made blank pieces oftheir work and have a dept set up to custom paint the pieces for those that can afford them. It may not be feasible now, but in the future.. you never know.

If it’s an issue of them being too far away I don’t think it will hurt…blanks can be shipped to her for painting and if sold she could ship them I guess.. wouldn’t be too hard I don’t think.

This one would work for an outdoor piece as well, not that many ever actually make outdoors anyway right ? 😀

Really, in addition to all the reasons mentioned above..the sculpt is already done or mostly done ( never know when you want to tweak something before painting.. 😉 ) , all the female dragons are in laying positions right ? Except for the SK that is, so it also fits there.. indoor..outdoor..I’d get it eventually..I’m behind right now as it is..lol

How difficult would it be to issue it in both outdoor and indoor pieces ? Would the cost be too much ?

That Unicorn looks beautiful.. Dragons are really my thing..but my Mom loved Unicorns and that one would have been right up her alley.

I didn’t get any Dragon statues or figures given to me..no Windstone pieces anyway.. except for the Silver Lap ( which was planned )and Peacock Spectral ( which was great bit of luck )I bought them both myself . I did get a new Dragon calendar by Ciruelo and a couple Dragon-themed novels though.

That could be why… but say someone was willing to pay for it..perhaps that could be an option ?

I don’t know..I’m just so impressedwith these..it’s prob not even an option because it would de-value already made pieces.

She is pretty big, about a foot long. That may be too large to be an Empress. I thought that I would never use this dragon sculpt so I did pretty much copy this one to make the lap dragon. I don’t think it matters though, since they are different sizes, The scales are different and they face different directions. Maybe this is the lap’s mother.

The Lap’s Mom..yeah..I could see that…she does look older with more mature features…even the thicker horns look good. If she is slightly larger than the Emperor that’s ok..as was mentioned above females can be larger… so yeah..I’d buy her Empress or not.. ( more Dragons are always a good thing.. 😉 ) I also love the yellow eyes…any chance we can see it painted..like in photoshop or something ?

I might have to..after looking at the artist’s editions I’m beginning to see just how much more detail is possible..not that the current editions aren’t beautiful..but what that extra bit of paint brings out.. 😮 and I’d hate to think we could be getting it in regular editions for a few dollars more you know ?
