This does not look like a factory original to me but there is nothing in the auction listing that identifies it as a PYO–
    Romper Room- No-No Right?

The first version of PYO griffins had less definition to the individual feathers and were called, unofficially “Soft” feathered griffins because they had a softer look to their feathers. These griffins were the first PYOs produced and they only had a Windstone ink stamp at the bottom.

Melody then resculpted the griffin to sharpen the feather definition to allow for more detailed paintjobs (this is my fault I think). At this point Windstone had come up with the embossed/inset logo pressed into the bottom.

I hope this answers your question! The “Soft” feathered griffins are more ‘rare’ because they only made so many before it was resculpted.

OK, I think I got it now–Thank you so much!!

I don’t know for sure, but going on the stamps I would say the one with the ink stamp would probably be a fluffy/soft feather one. Take a look at the fethers on the wings, that’s part of the way to tell them apart. I think the new ones have more definition to the feather details than the old one. As fo selling them I know a lot of folks have been trying to find the soft feather versions.

    Thank you!

    Hi,
I have two unpainted griffins that are a little different from each other. The one with green eyes has a Windstone ink stamp on the bottom and the one with lavender eyes has Windstone embossed/carved/stamped (I don’t know what you call it) into it on the bottom. I remember reading something about –one “batch that had fluffy feathers” but I have no idea which one is which. Could someone please explain the difference to me?

I am not and will never be an artist so I thought I might offer one for sale but I don’t know which version you artist guys would prefer.

    I appreciate the help, thanks!

Sorry, I can’t help, I’m not an artist, but she sure looks sweet to me! Not a train wreck at all!! Only true ‘horsey-type’ people are going to know what a perlino colored horse is supposed to look like anyway. I think she is pretty!

Excellent job Ski! If you need signatures for a petition (if that can be done electronically) just let us know. Good Luck!
In my 50+ years I have personally known of 5 dog bite incidents. Not one of them involved a so called vicious breed and every one was provoked by some sort of inappropriate behavior by the human. As with all prejudices, sheer ignorance is the real problem. The majority of the prejudicial people that I have encountered, were so because of their arrogance. They “knew everything” already, which intelligent people know is not possible.
Sorry to run on but this is one of my top “Pet Peeves”!
Well, while I am at it— My Number One “Pet Peeve” is this: Pick up any newspaper in any city in any country and look in the Classifieds and count the number of ads that start with “One year old dog-Free….”. No explanation needed.

    You are right–kind of weird!
    But a cool idea.

Hopefully everything is ok at the vets this morning! Poor kitty!
    As a side note
As a pet owner you can save a considerable amount of money and protect your pets at the same time if you are willing to vaccinate them at home. This can be done easily for any healthy pet. Also, this saves the animal from the stress (for cats anyway) of being put in the carrier and driven to the vet’s office. I usually just walk up to them, pet them and then administer the shot. Animal’s skin is not like ours and usually they never even know that it has been done.
I have been vaccinating my own cats, dogs and horses for about 20 years now and only once, one cat had a a negative reaction. I found out later, at the vet’s office that was probably caused by being too “cheap” and buying generic vaccines.
Of course with as many animals as I have and as freaky as I am about their health and well being, vaccinations are the only thing that I save money on! I take these guys to the vet EVERY time that I think they “look/act funny”! My vet loves me! 😆

in reply to: Windstone SHOCK! Muses are here! #590539

OMG I just got my blue/green Muse. It is sssssssooooooooo ugl—I mean Cute!! 😆
Even a non-artist, such as myself, can see the challenge in trying to paint these little guys. So much intricacy on such a small object! I think, right now anyway, that my favorite part is the long hair in the back. Would a Muse possibly be related to Cousin It? 😆

I put her? him? it? in the case covered with the dixie cup. Now that is a conversation starter!! I have one each of all of the PYOs so far–of course I’ll never attempt painting them but they are all so nice and after all Windstone is Windstone!! 🙂

I think the best way to name a cat is to let the cat tell you it’s name! Just look deep into her eyes and the first word that comes out of your mouth is her name! Really, I am not kidding! Everyone knows of course, that we do not own Cats–they own us! So why would we be so presumptuous as to try and name them?! 😉 😀

I named my new little boy Charley Tuna. I’m not real sure how the old gray matter came up with that but he doesn’t seem to mind. Most of the other 8 seem to like him even if he is a little shi*sola, which has sort of become his nickname. He seems to think that he was born just to rule this household and all living creatures therein. It is so funny to watch him with Ricky The Leader of the Pride! Ricky just lays there and lets him jump on his head, bite his ears, tail, feet, whatever, and then of course, since his “manhood” was challenged, Rick has to go beat up someone else. Everyone knows that this is a “Baby” and they are all play gently, even the dogs! Of course, I don’t know about you but, the idea of a 30-40 pound dog “playing”, Even Gently, with a 22 ounce kitten sort of makes me nervous!!

    Hi,
I apologize if this has been asked–
Any hint as to when the Dark Calicos may be listed? Or did I miss them?
    Thank you for your time!

in reply to: new kitten #591850

    Ahh- what a cutie-pie!

For some reason I was allowed to bring this little guy home just last week! Now I have an “even” 9 cats!
His name is Charley Tuna (I have no idea where that came from) and he is a mixed breed so even though he looks like a Blue Point Something-or-other, there’s no telling what his adult color will be.

in reply to: horse rescue #591452

IMO– it’s that the majority of people are just so $%^&* ignorant! My lovely Jackie was a rescue, of sorts– After I finally got settled in my “retirement home”, I wanted a horse. I had many horses when I was young, and now that I didn’t have to board, it just seemed right. Jackie was the second horse I looked at and I fell in love! The problem was that, the people that were selling her did not have a clue about proper horse management! Jackie was obese and hyperactive due to her straight alfalfa diet. Add to that, no proper exercise program and she had foundered! (For the un-horsey folks–that is a very bad thing that often causes horse to be put down). Of course this is not what I wanted but, I just looked into those big blue eyes and knew she deserved better!
It took almost a year but Jackie is in good shape (way better than me!) and although the evidence of the founder will never go go away, she “goes sound”. (Another “horsey” term, that is a good thing.)
So– hats off to you! Volunteering at a Horse Rescue is very rewarding, and more importantly, it rewards a very noble and deserving animal!
