He’s trying to be manipulative, and con people into buying his stuff out of pity.
It’s not illegal, but it bugs me. I’d never buy from somebody who pulled that kind of crap. Sell an item on its own merits, not on the basis of how sad you will be if nobody buys it.
SPark’s right, but I think that seller is funny. He’d do well to listen to some of the advice he got.

My guess is, he’s got a live journal somehwere that HIRES people to respond to the people that ask him questions.
He might be a teacher at UNL (University of Nebraska at Lincoln)… or a local community college. Maybe an economics class or something. The schools around here do weird things sometimes, so I wouldn’t be surprised. Does make it stranger that he was such a jerk tho.
…This whole auction is weird. He’s updated it several times and each time it goes weirder >/ Don’t like it at all.
if that last line is true, i wonder if he would be willing to fill us in on what the experiment was.(if it IS real, they might appreciate reading the response that people gave here)
