He really is a jerk. I sent him a message telling him that he came off as one, thinking that he was sort of just being facetious in the auction listing (and I assure you I was nothing but polite). Nope. Here’s the response he sent me:
I appreciate YOUR Honesty but you have not walked in my seller’s shoes — and you have not dealt with this listing in particular. I don’t know exactly why my listing concerns you so. If I see something I don’t like in a listing I simply don’t buy it. I don’t spend a lot of time hassling people who are trying to make a little bit of extra money by selling off their collectibles but perhaps you have nothing better to do. My ebay reputation speaks for itself and my customers are 100% satisfied. Thank you for taking the time to personally write me an email. I’m sure you will sleep better tonight.
Jerk through and through.
He actually wrote that?? 😯 😯 😯 Wow. What a tard. I thought the listing was funny, because I often laugh at people’s rude listing “this is like so ultra rare and like so amazing and like so great so like buy it because if you don’t, like, you’ll burn 😈 ” But wow. What a real ass.
Alas, I’m so glad we can all sleep better tonight 😯 Gosh.
June 19, 2007 at 4:58 am #589428Well he was being passive aggressive…
And if it is his desire to construe someone’s inquiry as an ‘attack’ on his choice of business practice, then let him. Assuming there were no accusations in what message was sent to him, then his response speaks for itself.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.

This is what I sent him:
You know, I really do appreciate what you’re trying to say with your little jab in your subtitle and auction description, but even if I wanted the dragon, I can confidently say I wouldn’t buy it. Perhaps there will come along someone who doesn’t care, but you really do come off as a jerk, whether you’re trying to or not.
I think you would do best by simply removing those jabs and leave it that this is a rare piece. Someone who likes the gargoyles and wants it will come along and pick it up. What you have said in your auction makes it seem that you would be very difficult to deal with, and most smart buyers, who know your piece is rare, will think twice about purchasing from you.
Just a word of advice.
I was not being rude, condescending or irritable, just matter of fact. I wasn’t losing sleep over it to begin with, but I certainly keep learning my lesson over trying to be even marginally helpful to people, IRL and and the internet. 😛
His dragon can sit on ebay and rot for all I care, it’s not even on my mind.
June 19, 2007 at 4:18 pm #589430Hehe! Here’s what I sent him!:
I’d pay $60 for one of these gargoyles. It is not as rare as you think.
As for your concern stated in your auction, people pay money for common windstones because they are hand painted. Colored items get more than non-colored because they are pleasing to the eye and they come in sets that people try to complete.
Your jab at people who collect these windstones is sure to scare away a few buyers.
LOL! Got his reply today. And I kid you not, this is a copy/paste:

Some people think they are being “cute” that way. What a jerk!
June 20, 2007 at 7:46 pm #589433Its a coded message. Hmm, I wonder what he is trying to say.
June 20, 2007 at 11:55 pm #589434That just proves what kind of person he is >/ I would have replied “I’m glad you confirmed to me that you are a true jerk” or something like that. Probably more angry words :p

“I’m an @$$hole”?
June 21, 2007 at 2:25 am #589436Boy, I really would like to know what that says. I like figuring out puzzles, but, that’s utter nonsense. 🙄 But, really what do I expect from someone like that. It’s really not a good idea to treat potential buyers that way. It’s way too negative. I’d be very surprised if it sells at all.
Never know maybe some people like the rude type? 😕
June 21, 2007 at 3:49 am #589437Can I quietly recommend that if he’s causing an issue you report him and otherwise ignore? Honestly, there’s a ton of jerks on ebay and the best way to push against them is to either report them or not give them money. Usually both 😉
June 21, 2007 at 5:22 am #589438Report for what? It’s not against ebay’s rulse to be rude, after all.

They’d collapse under the weight of the complaints if they did make rudeness against the rules! LOL

June 21, 2007 at 7:08 am #589441He is probably getting tired of everyone bothering him when he is doing nothing wrong.
