Switch to theory…cause I found a way Sooo in theory…
Say you saw a windstone that was magical and wonderful and you wanted it really baddly?
Would you sell all the other windstones you had to buy that one?
What if you sold them all and still didn’t have enough to get that one…then you had nothing.
Would you get a second job just for a “dust collector” like that?
Or would you just get a picture and hang it up…and dream? *giggles*
April 15, 2007 at 3:54 pm #490514April 15, 2007 at 4:08 pm #562366Personally, I wouldn’t sell my collection to get just one special piece. It’s taken me years to accumulate them. Not to mention, a lot of them cost me much less when I bought them than I would have to pay to replace them today. Now, if I needed the money to keep food on the table or pay the mortgage, I would consider selling. 🙂
April 15, 2007 at 4:46 pm #562367Ide get another job, im going to do that over the summer 😀
April 15, 2007 at 5:19 pm #562368I’ve actually got a file for those. I just save the pics and visit them. Let’s see…black violet OW, autumn leaf SK, white fledgie, copper mauve ow……models which just cost more than I’ve got usually or are near impossible to find. 😀 😀

Ditto!
April 15, 2007 at 5:39 pm #562370I wouldnt do it. I would get another job first.
April 15, 2007 at 6:18 pm #562371I only said I would consider it. 8)
April 15, 2007 at 6:21 pm #562372I wouldn’t sell my whole collection. As has been mentioned, some of them would be expensive to replace. But I have occasionally considered seeing what I could get for the less-rare ones, so I can buy one specific big one. But then… less rare ones are the ones I’d get the least for, really. Better to save them a decade or so until they become more rare!
April 15, 2007 at 7:06 pm #562373Since a large collection takes a lot of space and cleaning to keep nice, I would consider it. Although, only if it was a piece that I would be happy with having as my only piece. I sometimes feel that having too many pieces can be distracting from enjoying just a few, so I wouldn’t necessarily look at it as a bad thing to thin the herd. I would just have to assume that any piece I sell, I wouldn’t be able to replace (seeing what some of the prices on Ebay have been).
April 15, 2007 at 7:14 pm #562374I can’t imagine selling any of my pieces. I’m glad for heads-up, so I have time to save for that special piece: the ALSK. 😀
So I’d take the second job option.April 15, 2007 at 7:16 pm #562375I would go for the second job, too.
April 15, 2007 at 7:19 pm #562376If I loved this magical, wonderful, expensive Windstone exceedingly more than all the other pieces in my collection, then yes, I’d probably consider selling. However, I’d have to be really, really certain this one piece would make me satisfied, otherwise I’d regret letting the others go (because as other mentioned, it would be difficult and costly to build that collection back up if you feel like you need those pieces as well).
April 15, 2007 at 8:20 pm #562377This is a situation I’m finding myself in right now. I have a lot of smaller pieces that I may have to sell in order to pay for the CC charges for my Calico Flap Cat and White Griffin family. It’s hard deciding which ones, if any should go. Or if I could get by without selling any. 🙂 And it’s hard not to buy more too.
April 16, 2007 at 2:41 am #562378Wow, tough question. For me personally, my answer would be no! Most of my pieces have good memories of finding them on ebay (and acutally WINNING the auction for once!) after long searches and pinching pennies. I’d go with hanging up a picture. There are tons of beautiful pieces I’ll probably never be able to afford, but it’s also nice to admire Melody’s work from afar.
Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!
