November 30, 2012 at 8:38 pm #889165Awww, no worries darjeb! It’s all about having fun! 🙂 I hope your surgery goes well! My mom is overdue in getting her cataracts done, but she has had other pressing health issues that we’re still trying to resolve or get stabilized, so I’ve been running around helping shop for her. Totally know the lack of time feeling!
I had to have two cataract surgeries two weeks apart about 2 1/2 years ago and there really wssn’t much to it. I have worn contact lens for over 50 years and the Dr. implanted prescription lens at the same time now I can wake up in the morning and see across the room for the first time in my life – I am very near-sighted.
November 30, 2012 at 8:48 pm #889162WOW I just got my gifts – thank you Siberakh1. I got a round metal box of various chocolates, 2 beautiful t-shirts one white and one black with jewels on them, a Christmas Bell necklace, 2 St. Patrick’s Day fan pulls, a paperback book, and Spanky got some coockies and a doggie toy. The toy squeakes which makes it a favorite. Also there is a lovely Christmas card and everything was gift wrapped or in a beautiful Christmas box which I will keep.
I appreciate your offer to post pictures for me please do so as I gave up on Photobucket a long time ago, It used ot be easy to use but they have made it so complicated I can’t make it work anymore.
Ray picked up the dog toy and Spanky woke up for that one. He came running and also noticed the dog treats and grabbed the whole bag with his mouth and took off – I had to chase him to get it back before he ate the whole thing.

Awesome! I’m glad it arrived safely! I’ll post photos when I get home tomorrow (I’m out of town today for work and my camera is at home in my desk). I was just going to get regular tennis balls, but when I picked them up, they squeaked! *hehe* The treats are actually made my a local company. My dog loves them (the pizza flavored ones smell pretty good when I open the box) and was getting nosey when I was packing things up. I’m glad they are a hit! My dad had to pick up the book from the store for me, since I was at work and he was driving by that store anyways (I’m sure he appreciated it!). That company for the shirts is pretty good and very true to size (so no funky sizing) and the founder was such an awesome lady (Jeanne Bice, sadly she passed away recently from Cancer). They have some pretty fun stuff and my mom enjoys their shirts as well. Hurried to get things to you, so you could at least enjoy the chocolate while you recover from surgery. 🙂

Yeah. I’m sure she’s a bit nervous, since she could never see well out of one eye to begin with. I think she’s just so more concerned with the hip and now leg ulcers that it’s the least of her worries, so she just puts it off until the other stuff is taken care of. : Hopefully we’ll get some answers next week on the hip (got one figured out, time for the other), I’m going to push her to get the cataracts done, esp. since it’s starting to affect how neatly she can write. It’s day surgery and if she at least gets one done, it will make a huge difference. What is the recovery time? 5 days? She doesn’t drive anyways, so it should be a breeze. I’m severely near-sighted. I’d love to be able to get up in the morning and see first thing, but my vision changes slightly up and down every year or two, so it’s not stabilized enough to consider lasik or implants. 😛

You think you are near-sighted you should see me. Two feet in front of my face is blurry. I have monovision lens which means I read with my left eye and see across the room with my right eye.
When I had the cataract surgery I didn’t feel a thing except they spray water on the eye all the time and it feels like you are being flooded. The Dr. won’t let you drive home but I could have – no problem. For 5 days after you can’t wear eye makeup which I do. Medicare pays 100% Of it. I had my prescription lens implanted and Medicare considers that cosmetic so that cost is out of pocket and in my cast it was $1,500 per eye. Still I am glad I did it and if I had it to do over I would do the same thing. It is nice to wake up in the morning and see across the room instead of feeling my way to the bathroom to put my lens in. I was told that the implants can be adjusted if my vision changes but the hole in the retina is a different matter and no correction of prescription is possible the hole has to be fixed and asap because if it gets to big it can’t be fixed and I could lose the sight in that eye. The Dr. told me that he would lift the lens and place a gas bubble in the hole then replace the lens which takes about 35 minutes. The kicker is you have to keep you eyes looking down at the floor for 5 days and I keep wondering how I am going to sleep like that but I am sure I’ll find out this Tuesday.

Oh my, they got there QUICK! I am so glad you like them, the rest of yours went out today, ya I am sorry its late, but its very well travelled! I went on a cruise in the Caribbean, and had every intention of shipping it from Miami, couldnt find a place to ship it before we went on the ship, so it came along to Great Stirrup Cay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, LOL. Planned on stopping and sending it before leaving for home from Miami…friend who i was traveling with lost her passport so we had to deal with that first…needless to say it didnt get shipped until today, so you will have something else coming along in about a week :D.
December 7, 2012 at 12:26 am #889599We should be seeing more gifts come in–this is so exciting. So far, everything I’ve seen has been very nice.
December 7, 2012 at 6:52 pm #889634Ok, here are the photos of what I sent darjeb! (I’ve been horribly busy with work the past week, so these are a bit late…) Between Photobucket and trying to get a sizing that works with the newer forum format (which is smaller than before), I think I’m just going to stick to thumbnails *grrrr*
December 7, 2012 at 7:01 pm #889637Here are my goodies I got from ladyfirebird Wednesday! Thank you so much! I really love everything!
– The chocolates are already opened and on their way to being eaten.
– The owl is currently the only ornament on the tree, so he’s surveying the land before we get a chance to decorate the rest of the way this weekend.
– The owl candles are very cute and will be decorative until I can get a proper place to burn them. They go with the lovely owl card of a trio of barn owls.
– The dragon tile joins the other two tiles I have and will be claimed by some of my dragons, when I get my shelving (something always getting in the way… eventually!).
– Lastly, I got a lot of samples of very yummy smelling things from Purplecat Creatives! I’ve been wanting to try her stuff for a while, so this really is a treat. I’ve already tried out the soap whip. Mmmmmmmm….Thank you so much Ladyfirebird! 🙂
