Where’s a good place to get it and how much should it cost?

It’s pretty expensive.. I think around $150…If you are going to paint with it you may invest in a wacom too.. a tablet to draw with.. I hear it makes it a ton easier than using your mouse..

When I got photoshop I think it was a bit more than $150, and that was the student version. It’s not cheap. However, you can buy it pretty easily online and the earlier versions might be cheaper than the current one. I use photoshop 7 and refuse to upgrade; the interface is excellent.

As far as tablets go, they are good for some things, digital painting especially. Though if you are going to use photoshop for image editing/ matte paintings (like the signatures) it probably won’t help you much, if any. That’s just my two cents.

My mother was the one who bought Photoshop CS for me. I don’t even know what she paid for it. I just looked at Amazon.com and the most recent version is Adobe Photoshop CS3. Before the discout it’s $649.99. 😯 You can buy previous versions (like CS2 starting from $264.54).

A good FREE alternative to Photoshop or even Paintshop Pro (almost as expensive as Photoshop) is Gimp. It can do most of the things the other two progams can, but doesn’t cost a thing.
