Just curious to know if others have driven to pick up Windstones they’ve purchased and if so how far (round trip hrs or miles)? I’m trying to justify my trip tomorrow to pick up a lap dragon and an old warrior!
October 4, 2015 at 3:57 am #935372I’ve driven 30 miles round-trip to pick up a Male Gryphon that had no box. He was already damaged, and
I didn’t want to risk further damage to him even though the Seller was reputable in their boxing methods.I once messaged a Seller about two Peacock dragons, an Emperor and a Scratching, and offered to pick them up. That would have been a 100 mile round-trip, or about 1.5 hours. That sale didn’t work out.

October 4, 2015 at 5:15 am #935377I drove to Edmonton from Calgary to pick up a few pieces from a seller a couple years ago. It was 300 km (186 miles) and took 3 hours to drive there and then 3 hours back. So it was 600 km (372 miles) and 6 hours driving total round trip. That seems like a lot but I got at least 10 pieces I wanted.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!

Wow! 10! Totally worth it. I bought one of the dragons I’m picking up today (Ruby Lap) previously from a different seller but she broke it when she was boxing it up so now I found another I’m getting her myself! Will also be getting a Black Violet Peacock Old Warrior for $130 below store price. It’s a beautiful day and I have lots of good music to accompany me on my drive 🙂

Congrats on your new pieces. Wow, $130 below store price for a BVP OW! What a great deal. Totally worth the drive.
October 4, 2015 at 3:45 pm #935393Thanks! Just picked them up, headed back home now. The OW is perfect but the Ruby Lap had some issues 🙁 Got another $40 off of her price, hopefully she can be fixed up
October 4, 2015 at 8:26 pm #935405I drove a 350 mile round trip to pick up four Ruby dragons. No boxes and a non-Windstone-savvy seller so I thought it was better to go get them (and shipping would have been about what I spent on gas).
I also did a 350 mile or 400 mile detour to drop off a Rock dragon for drag0nfeathers to repair. The poor dragon was already beat up and I was afraid to ship him. Wisconsin to Southern Maryland by way of Rhode Island 😛 and definitely worth it! You know you’re into Windstones when …
October 4, 2015 at 9:23 pm #935409Some of y’all have me totally whipped! Farthest I remember driving is about 130 miles one way, but I decided to make a day of it and spend several hours at the beautiful Gulf coast beach so it was worth it- plus it was $100 for 6(?, a few years back) dragons. I’m in Florida also.
I’ve done at least 2 others around 100 miles one way (more beach days!), an 80 one way, and a couple 60 one ways that I remember. If I’m travelling out of my area, I try to check Craigslist for the areas I’m going to and driving through just in case.October 4, 2015 at 10:28 pm #935414Ha I knew I wasn’t the only crazy one. I’d totally drive them for repairs too if there was someone close enough. Very true – almost anywhere in FL you can easily turn into a side trip to the beach or something else cool!
October 5, 2015 at 3:41 am #935438I went about an hour and half each way for a lap without a box…though bad me didn’t eat first, I was a little loopy when I got there, just want to go out and eat once I got there….
4 things I'm looking for:
1. Mother Meerkat
2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinOctober 5, 2015 at 5:44 am #935442About 40 miles is the furthest I’ve gone. (That’s how far I live from the Windstone factory. I know, I’m very lucky!)
October 6, 2015 at 12:41 am #935493Hmcarr10, I don’t know where in FL you are or if she’s still around, but we did have a member- Kalandra- who did repairs and was located somewhere around the Treasure Coast.
