Do you have these days? I remember you saying that in the old place your ponies would follow you to your studio. Do you still have ponies?

I have way fewer animals now than when we lived in California, which is ironic because now we have tons of pasture space for them… it was almost as if I was compensating for living in the San Fernando valley by gathering animals around me.
The animals I brought with us here were mostly OLD ones, so we have lost several in the past two years due their clocks running out.
Our beloved pony, Moon, passed away. Yeah, we would all walk to the studio together: Moon, me, the two dogs, the two baby emus and Potter the cat, and sometimes the neighbor’s loose pigs ( that is another story) would follow too.. It was a real parade.
Ed, the emu, is doing great though. She is now kept in with the llamas and sheep in a big pasture so I don’t cuddle with her as much as I did when she was running around in our front yard.
We still have 4 llamas, 3 sheep, 3 turtles, 1 emu, 1 goat, 3 ducks, 2 cats, I am baby sitting 1 gecko, The macaw, 5 cockatiels, 6 budgies, 1 lonely pigeon, iguana, bearded dragon , uh, 2 goldfish, 2 tarantulas, the 2 baby mice I raised,.. I think that is it.
so counting everyone, thats 39 total. We moved here with 42 pets – so I’m down by only 3??
I had over 150 animals before we moved, so I am improving slowly.December 14, 2010 at 8:11 pm #833777Aww. Poor pony Moon. Do you have pictures of your herd? I wanna see Moon!
I can’t imagine having 39 critters. I feel overwhelmed with 9!December 15, 2010 at 5:48 am #833778Phoenix wrote:Aww. Poor pony Moon. Do you have pictures of your herd? I wanna see Moon!
I can’t imagine having 39 critters. I feel overwhelmed with 9!There are a couple pictures of Moon in my facebook photo album, If this link works… http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=142344962034&set=a.47324347034.70788.559077034
This was when we first got him ( I had his very long hooves trimmed immediately!)
-And this picture is about ten years later, he had whitened up and filled out a bit, and the kid on his back was bigger!

I love seeing kids enjoy their ponies. Sadly, I’ll have to wait for grandkids. My kids missed the horse gene. Luckily I have enough for my whole family.
I do take the ponies to the school for show and tell so the ponies don’t forget what their purpose on Earth is! It’s a ton of fun. 😀December 15, 2010 at 8:15 pm #833780WOW that’s a lot of animals. Melody’s Menagerie ^_^ Moon is a very beautiful pony. My relatives in Oklahoma have little minature ponies they hook up to carts and prade through town when there’s a little local parade. Those little guys are such spotlight hogs hehe
December 16, 2010 at 4:12 am #833781aww i can’t see him… probably one of the few people left on the planet that doesn’t use facebook 😳 How are sheep as pets? I feel like i want to get some when i move to be brush controllers. I’ve only ever had goats and for some reason sheep seem less high maintenance to me. Are you thinking of getting another pony/horse ever?

How did you post those? I have not figured out how to do that!
December 16, 2010 at 6:33 pm #833787Wow Melody, you have a great plethora of animals. I could never think about having that many where I live. I just would not have the space for them.
