I like 3-4 colors, such as in the color schemes of Nam’s reddish wolf, the eyes shut grey tabby, and the guinea pig.

I definately agree…I love some of them in certain colors but not others. For example, I love my rainbow fledgie but I really didn’t care for that color on anything else. I adore the brown color on just about every dragon except the scratcher…
Same here! I have more brown than anything else, but though the scratcher is my favorite pose, I won’t be buying him in brown 😕You two don’t like the Scratcher in brown? I personally think he looks pretty cool in that color. The one I don’t care for in the brown though, is the Lap dragon. To me… she’s too much of an elegant looking dragon to be in brown. But everyone has different tastes!
Poor brown scratching dragon…. I think I may adopt one later this evening! 😀

Hehe, the poll question asks “On a Windstone dragon, I prefer this kind of coloration…”
Your input is still great though! 🙂
D’oh! I missed that. Okay then, whatever Autumn Leaf is, although I voted for the two contrasting colors.
August 7, 2007 at 4:42 pm #606316I had both the scratcher and the lap in brown and the lap was prettier. I will have to get her again. She looked very beautiful in that color.

So you had her, but now you don’t? Isn’t this the first time Melody offered the Lap, Scratcher, and OW in brown? I didn’t think those sculpts were ever made in the brown color until now, and are now available in the store. Are they limited production? I wasn’t able to find any of them available through an online dealer.
August 7, 2007 at 5:19 pm #606318As much as I love the silver OW, the emerald peacock, and the black/bluish dragons, I must say my favorite colours are still old brown/green, so I went with the 2nd option.

Yes, I had her and traded her to LIH a while back. They are still available in the store and are only available here. Yes, they are limited production. I bought them off ebay when they were first released a year or so ago.

Oops! I also missed that this was for dragons only.If I was considering only dragons, I would’ve chosen 2 colors smoothly blended, since the original version of old green is still my favorite dragon color.

Ahhh, okay. I was thinking you meant that you got one a long while back or something. I was wondering, cause I didn’t remember those ever being made in brown before.
I’m in the mood to buy a brown dragon, but am still thinking I like the Scratcher better. I do tend to change my mind at the last min though.. 🙄
August 8, 2007 at 12:27 am #606322I think if you go more then 4 colors it becomes to busy to flow correctly

I agree with that!

The multi-colored ones have so much color going on, even though they are stunning to look at, you visually lose the detail of the dragon.
So my vote goes to the 2-color sharply contrasted, I’m not sure which ‘old browns and greens’ are being referred to in the other 2-color category. If it’s the ones from 1984, they are too glossy looking for me. I prefer the satin shine (more lifelike to me).
Tintaglia, my old greens purchased in ’86 have a matte/satin finish; actually the only one out of 6 with a glossy finish is the fledgling (of which I like the paint job least of all my OGs, mostly because of the gloss).
I voted the blended 2 colors, for just the reason Tintaglia mentioned in the beginning of her post- the sculptures are so realistic, you want a paint job that bolsters the illusion.
The old green and brown (with satin finish, not glossy) did a far better job at naturalism than any of the other colors, in my opinion. Although I don’t own a brown, it is my 2nd favorite color after OG. (just don’t care for the blue eye with it, or black and gold, which also ‘works’)I don’t really care for the monotones, and the metallic/high gloss finishes don’t work for me- they detract from the realism. Also I agree with DM, you start getting more than 3-4 colors, and it gets so busy it detracts from the sculpt.
Interesting to see everyone’s ideas on their ‘ideal’ dragons!
