My brother in the southern tier of NY (Binghamton area) got pounded with rain (his old garage and basement flooded out – his new garage which has his cars in it where he repairs things are fine in that). Their expected to get hit hard again tonight. Western NY has Tornado watches up again and there was a warning cell up west of Binghamton (Elmira area) earlier. My college town (2 hours from home, but an hour from where I work, which I’m at right now) had a tornado warning last night just north of downtown. It died off to a relative whimper by the time it got to me though. Still, another hit tonight. I have fraternity sisters at one of my collegiate chapters that I’m responsible for that are basically just watching funnel clouds form as they try to make the most of things. One did finish her 12 tone project for class and called it ‘Funnel Cloud’ though. 🙂
Everyone stay safe! Windstones are replaceable, but people aren’t!
We had a tornado (still unconfirmed) touch down very nearby. The storms have been pretty intense here.

My art: featherdust.comApril 28, 2011 at 3:08 am #843776I think mine would have a greater chance of death in the basement than in my room…at the hands of my sister’s stepchildren. XD Rowan, the youngest, loves dragons…and he’s not quite old enough to grasp the ‘not a toy’ concept when he sees a shiny dragon figurine. And most of the shelf space in the basement is occupied by my movie collection anyways. 6.6; Since the TV is down there…
Oh, and if anyone wants to see some more flood pictures, peep this! :
http://www.semissourian.com/flood2011The thumbnails at top are pictures taken by readers. I think the rest of the pictures (the ones in the slideshow) are ‘official’ SE Missourian pictures. There’s also a list of towns with flooding, and how high the river is there. Yuck.
April 28, 2011 at 3:51 am #843781I think the worse is over here. There was baseball size hail that destroyed my fiancé’s car. At my moms place we put our horses in the barn but my friends were outside and one is confurmed stuck by lightning and has died. I have another friend who says near her house there are cows laying down not getting up. Tornados were present but the hail was horrible 🙁
April 28, 2011 at 6:19 am #843792oh poor horses. Even though our storms in California aren’t nearly that bad i always worry for my horses when its windy cause i know they could be around trees that come down. Hail that big would be terrifying. I’m sorry to hear about the car and the friends horse and the cows. But at least no one in the family got hurt, and hopefully none of your windstones
April 28, 2011 at 8:28 am #843793Ugh. I have not been paying attention to the weather elsewhere in the states! I used to live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and I had to get used to tornadoes and tornado warnings aplenty – I’d forgotten how scary they are 🙁
I hope everyone and everyone’s loved ones are well.

April 28, 2011 at 4:25 pm #843845I hope everybody in the path of those tornados are safe.
I live in southeastern FL and have been through a few hurricanes but I grew up in Kansas City, MO and I don’t think they cause the damage a tornado can Also with a hurricane you have at least 5 days warning to prepare for the worst with a tornado you have 5 or 10 minutes.

Really?! No way! Small world indeed! I lived there for about 4 years between 2001 and 2005. I hated it when I lived there but now all I have for it is slightly sad nostalgia – I met my best friend there and I’ve got a lot of really good memories of that place. One of those cases where you don’t realize how great an area was until you’re long gone :/ But yeah! I still remember that town like the back of my hand 😀

It is some of the best extreme footage I’ve seen of a tornado, as he ends up just on the outskirts of the debris cloud. It is incredible.
April 28, 2011 at 7:25 pm #843868Hang onto your hats folks because it isn’t the end.It has killed at least 250people in the South so far.Everyone stay safe hope your loved oned are too.

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.April 28, 2011 at 9:40 pm #843897I don’t live down south where all the tornadoes have been. But the weather report for my area is indicating severe thunder storms and flooding over the weekend. I live near the Tippecanoe River and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this swollen. It’s already flooded in several areas near my house, fortunately they are uninhabited because they are flood plain.
I feel for you southern folk, and I hope this ends soon. The flooding here isn’t as bad as it was a few years ago, but that could change quickly if we get the weather we’re promised :~

Sun Dragon Koi #3April 28, 2011 at 9:47 pm #843899Haha, you hated it? How strange, I like it here. It’s peaceful. XD I’m not a fan of bigger cities, myself. I didn’t get back to Cape from college until uh…2003. So our paths may have intersected and we didn’t even know. =0

I have the same problem with my niece… and it’s gotten worse since she saw ‘How to train your dragon’. She is always asking to play with them and now asks me where Toothless is XD

Well I am not a fan of humidity or heat, and I’m from New Hampshire where we typically have 70-80 degree summers with low humidity, so my first summer in Cape was torture! I laughed at the winters there though so I guess it was somewhat even 😀 I did like the area otherwise, and I met a lot of really amazing people 🙂 I wouldn’t be surprised if I called your house once when I worked for Rainsoft, or served you at Fazoli’s! XD
