This is suburbia!?

My apologies for the less than crystal-clear photos, as I took them through my less than spotless living room window.

But I was so shocked to have six juvenial wild turkeys in the backyard of my apartment today, I just had to share them with you.

(I love the one standing on the minivan!)

Certainly makes for a delightful treat on a rainy Saturday!

(I live in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.)

I live in NJ – total suburbia. We’ve got turkeys, deer, opossum, skunks, raccoons, foxes and now coyotes living in the area. It’s amazing how animals can adjust.

I was so surprised the first time I heard coyotes howling outside around my parents’ house. Usually the wildlife is on the other side of the train tracks/highway from where I live. 😀

I know there are skunks, racoons, and likely even foxes in the area and I’ve seen plenty of deer, but opossum…don’t think I’ve ever seen those around.

I got deer, wolves and coyotes all the time behind my parents house… of course, for the longest time, they were right on the edge of town, with a bit of a forest behind them, so kinda expected….

It’s amazing how fast birds grow up, whether it be cardinals, Canada geese, or eaglets! 😀

I love the noises the turkeys make, though they’ve generally been quiet. 🙂

They came back to the front yard after I posted these shots–they seem not terribly bothered by my cats, (and my cats were rather ho-hum as well) so maybe I’m missing out on regular visits while I’m at work! 😆

I’ve seen moose in the area, but they don’t like to come up to our fence… they hang around in the swampy area just north of where I lived. 🙂

Of course, I’ve never seen a turkey in real life, so I think that you’re kinda lucky yourself!
