This sounds like great fun! Could someone please let me know how it works? I know I’m new and am just starting some PYO’s but I’ll post some pics when I’m done to see if anyone would like my work and if I could participate. Thank you :).
Sure! What happens is that everyone signs up who wishes to be in the swap. Dragonmedley will let us know exactly when and post an announcement thread here in the PYO section (I believe it’s always been here…LOL) Then you just follow her instructions on how to sign up! ANYONE can participate! The more the merrier!
Ok, for example, I have been in 3 swaps so far. I get an email telling me what the other person wants (And someone gets my list) and I go at it. Usually what I send in for my wants is…5 basic colors I would like to see on the sculpt (I collect PYO Griffins.)
Example: I would like a Griffin with ____ colored eyes. I like these colors, purple, black, red, etc etc. (I don’t expect whoever gets me to put all the colors on, but it gives them a bit of a choice to work with.) And I leave the rest up to the person painting for me. But, while I know who I am painting for, I do NOT know who is painting for me! Yes, sorta like a Secret Santa deal.It is amazingly fun to see what you will get, and it’s always nice to get surprises! 8)

June 17, 2009 at 7:32 am #762046Oh…I forgot to add that part of the fun is listening to everyone who gets theirs and seeing all the pics, and then repeatedly checking your mailbox/PO Box for a package you know will get there eventually, but is soooo hard to wait for! 😳 😀

Hi WindstoneCollector, thank you so much for explaining this to me :). I’m happy to hear that it’s open to everyone I’m definitely looking forward to participating. I hope I can get enough practise before the swap begins, or luckily get someone who wants a unicorn or wolf…I haven’t been able to try the other ones out yet, lol.
For sure! 😀
June 18, 2009 at 2:56 pm #762048You are most definitely welcome! 😀 And don’t worry about practice! LOL You will do fine, and Medley tries to match us up to what we can paint too! (Just let her know, and even if you get something different than what you are used to, it will help you to learn other sculpts! You’ll be just fine!!! 😉 )
I was nervous as all heck when I joined for the first one! I get alot of people wanting Ki-RIn for my swap partners. I do pretty well on them, but I am so much a Griffin girl, that I don’t do alot of others. I am trying to wait patiently for the PYO Phoenix that will be around one of these days. What can I say? I love feathers! 😆June 19, 2009 at 1:54 am #762049Oh I can’t wait! I had so much fun with the last one-and this time I know that I can even add some goodies in with the PYO. I didn’t even think about it last time, but this time, I want to give something else extra! (I don’t know what yet!) lol 8)

Aww, thank you :).
That phoenix looks incredible so far, I can’t wait to see the finished, paintable version too – the detailing on those tail feathers, just wow! I bet you’ll have a wonderful time painting it for sure then! 🙂
I wonder what other PYO’s are in the works?June 19, 2009 at 5:18 am #762051abatos wrote:Thank you so much again :D. That’s a great relief to hear! Very true, it would be a good opportunity to learn a new sculpt, I just want to be sure to do a good job too. Aww, thank you :).

I wonder what other PYO’s are in the works? There’s a lovely bookend of a wing. Simply a feathered birds wing but very pretty. It’s somewhere in Melody’s gallery. *wants* Also there’s speculation about a big hippogriff possibly being a PYO, as well as a hippocampus. (as far as I am aware of anyway)

Hello, thank you for your answers :). A PYO bookend sounds like a lovely idea…I wonder if there will be two for a set, but one slightly different, I’ll go take a look in her gallery. Wow, I saw the hippocampus and it looks amazing! I hope it will work out to be a PYO, and the hippogriff too :). I was hoping there would be more equine-type PYOs, my only squeak is for a PYO Gothic-type Unicorn, I’d love that!
Thank you again :).
June 19, 2009 at 10:27 pm #762053Well, with the pyos being replenished (heck there were even a small, fresh batch of keeper dragons that appeared and flew out of the store), looks like the store is in good shape for a swap. Perhaps we could give an extra week or two to the total length of the swap, to allow for the smaller batches to replenish the store, since the quantities for many of the sculpts is still smaller. This is of course if there is a larger amount of people participating where this could possibly matter (*works on finishing some pyo projects this weekend*).
June 20, 2009 at 12:24 am #762054I agree I hope the next swap will be soon… 🙂

I can’t seem to find it now, but I know there was mention of a PYO Flap Cat possibly in the works. Does anyone have any idea how that’s going? *hopes we’ll see some soon* squeek* squeek*

While searching through Melody’s gallery here I found one image of a new Flap Cat in progress in which she commented that it could be a possible PYO: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/galleries/displayimage.php?album=16&pos=60
I hope so too, a PYO Flap Cat would be wonderful! 🙂June 20, 2009 at 1:09 pm #762057Okay, it’s now official, I will start the sign up for the next swap on July 1st (my time, after I slept in – ’tis a holiday here). It will be in a brand new thread that I’ll start for the occasion. Drag0nfeathers will be assisting me, so we just need to iron out the details for that.
Seems we might even have keepers, so life’s looking’ great!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.
