Falcoff you could always message the person and ask if they got it okay so they know who it came from since if they already have it, it’s not a surprise anymore. I messaged the person I painted for to let them know when to expect theirs.
Um, technically, that’s against the rules…

That’s why I haven’t done it. 🙁 I’m kind of at a loss of what to do at the moment, I have no experience with shipping stuff and it going missing. I got insurance but that doesn’t help my swap or my piece, which was my first PYO ever.

Excellent!
December 5, 2013 at 6:22 pm #906159Never mind! I just checked my email and Dragonmedley fixed the problem, it HAD gone astray but luckily not too far! 😀 SO RELIEVED!

December 5, 2013 at 6:22 pm #906158What is against the rules? If swap pieces have already been shipped out or arrive at their destinations why are we suddenly not allowed to message whoever got them and talk to them? I did not read a rule anywhere about that and that doesn’t make sense. If I trade a piece with a person I always message them to see if they got it okay.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
December 5, 2013 at 6:23 pm #906155My recipient should receive their piece today (tracking shows it is out for delivery). *wiggles*
EDIT: Post Office ‘tried’ to deliver and will be notifying addressee.

Since this is similar to a ‘secret santa’ exchange (only with painting pyos), you wouldn’t contact the person directly. In a trade, the person knows exactly who they are trading with, so there is no ‘surprise’ factor. What if it said ‘delivered’ but in reality, it was delivered to the wrong place or that the Post Office marked it as delivered and it was really still sitting in their back room (I have seen both happen before). If you haven’t heard from the person (not everyone is on the forum every day due to jobs, family, having to go out of town, or internet accessibility), the person hosting the swap (in this case dragonmedley) would act as the go between. Sometimes it takes some patience for a person to respond that they received their swap, but if there is a concern, dragonmedley can contact the recipient for verification of receipt, or if a person in the swap has a question and needs clarity regarding what the person they are painting for wants.
December 5, 2013 at 6:43 pm #906162That’s what I did, I contacted Dragonmedley and she worked things out. 🙂 The piece had wandered but luckily it was close and I didn’t need to call Canada Post. (Though perhaps I should still complain.)

December 5, 2013 at 7:44 pm #906164Here is my HANDSOME boy! His name is COPPER TIGER! I love him and he fits right in with my collection! He ended up visiting next door before he finally arrived home but he made it! I am not sure who painted him for me but I love him! He is exactly what I had hoped for! Another Tiger to join my Tiger family! Thank you! He will be loved!

Mmloda I am SO glad that you like him!!! 😀 He was my first PYO EVER and I had a really great time painting him! I’m sorry it was a bit unclear where he came from – my ride didn’t give me any time to put a note in with him or anything, so all I could do was write my forum name in brackets by my address. When the tracking said he’d been delivered last week I was really on tenterhooks hoping that you’d like him, then when you didn’t say anything I thought ‘maybe she’s on vacation or something!’ THEN you commented yesterday on the swap you did and I thought ‘ACK! She hasn’t gotten him!’ and contacted Dragonmedley. I was soooo relieved this morning when she emailed me back saying that you’d found him! I was terrified he’d gone on some crazy adventure and that we’d never find him again!
Anyway, I am so happy that you like him! It was really fun painting for you! 😀

Oh that is the best description for him. He IS quite handsome. The silver/white accent along the black stripes on the tail is so cool! As is the color gradation on his back. 🙂

My thoughts exactly! He looks great, Falcolf. I hate to think what a first PYO by me would look like! :p Lol!
Formerly had the Batman & Joker avatar!
December 6, 2013 at 9:24 am #906188Thank you so much everyone! 😀 I already got PYO wolf so that I can start another one hehe! (I am so addicted!)
Also, today I got a parcel notice in the mail! I could not go in to pick it up from the post office personally today, but just to let my swap know, my mom has picked it up on her way to work so I will be getting it when she comes home. 🙂 I am SO excited!

EDIT! Here is my spectacular piece from Siberakh1! 😀 She painted for me an absolutely beautiful phoenix that she called ‘Autumn Peacock.’ The details on this are gorgeous and incredible! I could not be happier or more in love – the colours bring to mind my favourite hobby of hiking with my favourite time of year to hike, my favourite types of tree (it really makes me think of aspens!) and one of my favourite animals, making it very nostalgic for me. Even the moss on the rock brings to mind fond memories of scrambling over boulders to look for a view! Where I live we sadly don’t have many deciduous forests to enjoy in autumn, British Columbia being primarily coniferous, so this phoenix also makes me think of the forest I would like to visit someday, a forest of leafy trees in a riot of autumn gold.
Here’s the first photo I took, with the adorable little card that Siberakh1 included!
And here are the photos that I took with my dad’s Rebel T3. Siberakh1, if you have any nicer photos please feel free to share them, I won’t have a chance to take pretty outdoor pictures until Sunday and these don’t do her colours justice! She’s way more vibrant in person; I especially love the green accents, her face markings and the metallic paint on her legs!
And the gorgeous feather detail!
Thank you so much Siberakh1! I will be treasuring her always! 😀
