I have dealt with people that only take checks or money orders with out any problems. until I got my paypal account I ONLY paid with with MO. If there feedback is ok, I woulnd’t worry
January 25, 2007 at 1:09 am #529341I’ve personally never had a problem with anyone taking money orders or cheques. But, it does make you wonder, why would anyone want the hassel of accepting personal cheques.
January 25, 2007 at 1:30 am #529342I’m one who will actually accept a personal check, but that’s because since there isn’t a local branch of our bank anywhere near here I go to the bank located inside the PX and cash it (as long as it’s small enough that I can). I like that bank because it’s even open on Sunday!
PX stands for Post Exchange for those who may not no military acronyms.
January 25, 2007 at 1:32 am #529343But, don’t you ever fear the dreaded bounced cheque? Or a stopped cheque?

I won this guy yesterday and only realised today, when I received the invoice, that the seller only accepts checks or money orders! Well, I went ahead and sent him the money, but let me tell you, I can’t wait to see how it will turn out!
Oh and before anyone asks, yes I already have a white fledgling, but he has a 0.5″ scratch on the belly and it’s been bothering me 😳
If everything turns out okay and my new fledgling is really in mint condition as advertised, I will be offering the other one here for sale or trade.
It was not so long ago that paypal didn’t exist!! I don’t see how you could have a problem paying with a check or a money order…I’ve certainly never had a problem.

-J R R TolkienJanuary 25, 2007 at 1:34 am #529345I’ve not had that problem yet. Mostly the checks were from family members. And since I’m cashing and not depositing checks other people have written me I don’t really find out if it’s a bouncer or not. I get my cash and go.
January 25, 2007 at 1:38 am #529346I normally wouldn’t be too worried about it, it’s just that this person is a very new seller (Sept. 2006) and only 2 sales so far.
I’m sure it will be fine, but I’m a worrier at heart 😕 I like the protection of paying with a credit card…
January 25, 2007 at 1:58 am #529347Good luck I hope you got a good one
January 25, 2007 at 6:57 am #529348I accept checks, but I can tell you its a hassle! I have to get the check, endorse it, and mail it to my bank in Texas after I get it. The PX wont cash checks over $100, and the bank, if you can catch them when they are open, will take a hunk out of it. Its annoying.
January 25, 2007 at 12:53 pm #529349I only use MO’s, unless the seller says they want a certified check. But I have no paypal, cuz I have no checking acct. My friends just call me Cash. 😆
