I hope that you are able to get your dragon back. Sometimes people suck.

Agreed! You should definitely contact ups and try to get more info on who signed for it. Chances are whoever took it lives very close. Putting up lost/missing posters would be a great idea too as has already been suggested.
Wouldn’t that be great if whoever signed for it signed their real name and did it legibly?? People are stupid enough to do that… *Thinking of the guy who robbed a bank wearing a helmet that had his name printed on it, or the guy who wrote a bank robbery demand note on the back of his own check..*
January 17, 2009 at 9:02 pm #748856OMG! I’d be going to the UPS and asking if the signature is legible etc.
Or a description from the guy who delivered.
Oh that sucks….
👿 I’d like to shove this pitchfork somewhere on this guy…..

you definatly should contact them ASAP! Put a formal complaint so it’s in the records, get them to talk to the driver to find out all the details of the person that signed.
I wish you luck and keep us posted.
Man this really is upsetting! 😡January 17, 2009 at 10:22 pm #748858This is awful! How could UPS allow someone else sign for your package! 😮 😡
I really hope Susie is able to track it down for you, nightcrow.January 18, 2009 at 12:32 am #748859That sucks to the Nth degree!!! I hope you are able to find her…people suck!!!
January 18, 2009 at 12:57 am #748860To all of you: thank you for your commiserations and suggestions!
The name was apparently not really legible; they told me “Madison” at first, then admitted it might be something else, they couldn’t read it very well. Susie is going to try some things from the Windstone end, since it was shipped under their account number, and tomorrow I’m going to call again and see if they can’t give me any more information, or at least give them a hard time. They don’t deserve a moment’s peace.
If I haven’t gotten it back in a couple more days, I was thinking of making a poster/flier and taking it round to the local pawn shops; anyone else have any ideas of this sort? The police?
Thanks again, and I’ll try to keep everyone posted as The UPS Drama continues…
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
January 18, 2009 at 1:02 am #748861That is just outrageous! Geez! I hope that all ends well with this!

Its not a “police” problem, not unless someone broke in and took it. UPS giving it to the wrong person is a UPS problem.
If I were you, I would start putting up fliers/posters now. Sooner the better.
January 18, 2009 at 3:21 am #748863That’s awful! I’m so, so sorry!

January 18, 2009 at 3:50 am #748864That really sucks..the drivers that come to our house just has anyone available sign and doesn’t even look at it.
I would check with UPS first.. what if a driver just signed something and took it because they wanted it ? The driver had to see the person there..assuming he had someone sign for it at all and didn’t just leave it..this person had to know it was coming or just be in the area to see it for some reason. You may never see the dragon itself again..but UPS should pay for it since it was their mistake.
I had a similar problem earlier this past year when I shipped something, the buyer said it never arrived but since they didn’t want insurance, tracking, or delivery confirmation there was nothing to be done for it…someone could have just taken it off their stoop or mailbox.
Stealing mail in general is a federal offense but don’t expect to get anything from the government. .. 🙁
If you haven’t already..I would ask any neighbor that can see your house to see if they may have just possibly saw someone as well…this person might try it again afterall.
January 18, 2009 at 4:18 am #748865Darn it, this is just a mess. I’d be pretty steamed too! 😡 I worry about stuff vanishing off of our front porch–if no one is home, UPS just leaves it right there in plain sight of the street and everything. So far we’ve been very lucky, but it still drives me crazy. We had a new computer delivered a few days earlier than expected; it arrived while we were out running errands. When we got home, there it was, gigantic box on the front step practically screaming, “Pick me up and make me disappear!” Now wouldn’t you think that the carrier would have just left a notice instead of leaving that monster out in plain sight? Nope, apparently not. Grr. I generally like UPS, but not at times like these.
I sure hope you get your dragon back, nightcrow. What a total downer. 🙁
January 18, 2009 at 5:30 am #748866I’m sorry too. I hope you can recover it.
January 18, 2009 at 4:34 pm #748867It’s even more frustrating when it’s an eBay piece that is one of a kind or limited.
I hope you get it back Nightcrow…it’s irreplaceable! 🙁January 18, 2009 at 5:44 pm #748868I would really get on UPS for this. They are supposed to get the name of the person who is signing. They even type it into that electronic thing they carry! They should definately pay for the dragon if you can’t recover it.
