Okay, I am sure some of you remember my mini rose bush that I have indoors for the winter? Well, I have found spider mites all over it, and then I found many millipedes in the soil. 😮 I have been dousing the bush with water to try and kill off the spider mites, but they keep on coming back. 🙄 I don’t know what to do about the millipedes. Any advice?

The spider mites– yuck! Hate those.

But the millipedes shouldn’t be doing any harm, unless you are sprouting seeds or growing ground bearing fruit like strawberries or squash. I have never had them harm normal, healthy plants. Millipedes are generally beneficial as they like to eat decaying matter like dead leaves and rotten stuff. They help break it down into lovely mulch for you!

I buy a spray specifically for spider mites; nothing else gets them. I got it at Home Depot, I think (or maybe Rona). Nurseries should have them too.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

Millipedes may be helpful, but I wouldn’t want them in my house. Yeck! :puke:

A solution of half water and half hydrogen proxide will kill the mites without using a pesticide, so if you want to try that, it saves you a trip to the store and should work.

              Hope that helps.

Thanks guys. I am glad I can use a home-solution for them-thanks Kyrin!
Also, thanks for the article about the millipedes. I heard that they could eat the roots of the plant, but I think I got rid of most of them anyway. I am sure there are a couple hanging around somewhere.
