I envy people that sew and sew well. I can sew but am a 100X better at hand sewing then machine sewing.
Those critters are awesome!!
I worked for a company that made dog toys and beds and I sucked at it. I lasted 3 whole days before the owner and I came to the mutal consent that I just didn’t have the knack for it.
You have the knack!
You should consider making some dog and cat toys with eyes that are sewn on instead of the plastic kind and expand your selling base. Double sew seams make them strong and durable and retain that really cutiewierd style you have.
FizzGig is my favorite 🙂March 27, 2008 at 2:36 am #682322lol I can’t sew for crap either. I tried a few times; you can see the results in my deviantART gallery. 😳
March 27, 2008 at 2:53 am #682323I’m glad you like them. 🙂
I’ve thought about doing dog toys, but I’m not sure it would be economically feasible. $15 is the very lowest I can charge for them and actually make a profit worth bothering with, but the extra effort put into making them more durable means extra time, means extra cost, and I’m not sure people would buy $20 foot-long chewtoys when they can get perfect fine ones for just a buck or two elsewhere.
March 27, 2008 at 3:11 am #682324XD well I wouldn’t want to give my dogs something someone spent so much time making anyways. My dogs are crazy and destroy any toy you give them within (literally) five seconds). 😳
March 27, 2008 at 6:08 am #682325That hyena is really neat, SPark.
March 27, 2008 at 6:25 am #682326Thanks!
Today is a good day for finishing projects. I just finished another plush, this time a three-eyed purple pitbull. Don’t ask me, I just make the things, I don’t design the characters!
March 27, 2008 at 10:02 am #682327Woooow! That pitbull is great! I would love a loonakit (minus extra eyes lol), but I think my cats would love it better. 😕 Which brings us back to cat toys… Got any scraps laying around? Maybe you could come up with something that could be filled with catnip (supplied by the buyer)? Maybe with a velcro closure, so it could be refilled? I would go for a couple at say $10 a piece, plus shipping….don’t know if that’s worth your time, though. I don’t sew, so I don’t know what’s feasible for ya. Just a thought….
March 27, 2008 at 10:18 am #682328Hmmm.
It’s probably worth my time, the issue then is marketing. Sure I can whip up plain furballs with catnip inside, but where do I sell them? There’s not exactly a shortage of catnip toys out there already, after all.
That’s been my problem with plushes too. There are communities focused on costuming, but there really aren’t communities focused on handmade plush. I’ve mostly been selling them through my furry fandom art gallery, and it’s only recently started to pick up, after more than a year of trying to get publicity any way I can think of.
I suppose there are pet owner communities. But in my experience they’re kind of full of crazy. 🙄
March 27, 2008 at 10:34 am #682329Hah! That pitbull is too cool! Are there any links to 2D artwork of it?

😆 Crazy….I can agree with that. “My parakeet Twiggy can whistle the National Anthem!” uh, ok. Anyway, if you want to sew me up a couple, lmk…
March 28, 2008 at 4:31 am #682331I <3 the first Loonakit, Spider eyes and all!!
April 4, 2008 at 6:41 am #682332Here’s another fuzzy thing. I get all the weird ones, I swear! This is a fake gray fox pelt, shown here with a real gray fox pelt for comparison.
April 4, 2008 at 7:15 am #682333That’s the best way to have an animal rug!! No animals harmed! 😀
April 5, 2008 at 6:31 am #682334New version of the Fizzkit!
