That was so relaxing to watch lol. I had a dumb moment.. I was thinking wow.. what brand of paint brush is she using.. Windsor Newton? Which ever one it is, it sure holds lots of paint! I think it was about two minutes in I realized it was an airbrush lol. The faint air sound should have been a big clue to me.
Don’t feel bad Matty – I thought the same thing! I always have my computer on mute so I didn’t have any sound, but I had no idea there were airbrushes with an actual brush tip. I was confused and thought, “man, that brush holds a lot of paint!”

I didn’t realize how well the mic on this cellphone picks up sound! I could of narrated what I was doing.
Next time.
It’s not an airbrush. I am using an old ( not sure the brand) round sable hair brush that has had its wild hairs clipped off, so only the center straight hairs are left. This kind of brush is great for drawing lines. I use brushes till they don’t have hair and then I use the handles as stir sticks.
The base color on this poad was airbrushed. I am using High Flow acrylic paint for the black lines. It behaves like ink.March 4, 2017 at 10:28 am #1521243First off thank you for all your hard work Melody that you have been putting into getting out two fantastic grab bag pieces (baby Kirins and newly released foxes) out to us in such a short time! I was curious to know a few things.. how are the sculpts of Garlen, Chalice, and Podge coming along? I wonder if they could become stretch goals for your possible kickstarter? Any more developments on the tapir like creatures seen in reptangle? I believe you had a work in progress sculpt photo before? Lastly Aardwolves.. I wonder if a batch of one of the sitting foxes could be painted up like them for another offering!? At least until the day comes and you make one lol.
I haven’t had time to work on sculpting! I have been doing nothing but painting lately! I am getting extra grab bag pieces together for the upcoming kickstarter I am planning to do, so I have been painting double time.
Chalice, and Garlen are still in the unfinished state, NEARLY done, but still need a few weeks of carving, and I am waiting on having Garlen’s horns finished and cast in pewter before I finish the sculpture so I can fit them accurately to the head. The tiny little poad ( she is in scale with the other characters) is done, I guess she could be cast soon. Maybe as a dinky pyo? She is really tiny, about an inch long.
Would anyone really want a sloat? I can’t imagine they’d sell very well! I have so many things I want to sculpt, an aardwolf is one of them… they have such pretty faces! And thylacines…March 4, 2017 at 10:33 am #1521244That was so relaxing to watch lol. I had a dumb moment.. I was thinking wow.. what brand of paint brush is she using.. Windsor Newton? I am just using a regular hair brush here. At Windstone there’s always background sounds of milling machines, exhaust fans and whatnot providing an industrial am-biance.
March 4, 2017 at 10:46 am #1521245Yay, baby poads! That was cool to watch! I don’t think I would have a hand that steady to paint small details so it’s neat to see how Melody does it!
Steady, ha! I was painting this right after I had just had a really strong cup, of tea and my hand was really shaky!!
Does tea do this to you? It really affects me. I have to avoid drinking strong tea if I plan to paint!March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am #1521246I haven’t had time to work on sculpting! I’ve been thinking lately about how it feels like that’s missing from the Windstone dragon family and how great it would look! I was actually gonna post this in the squeak thread but this kind of seemed like an opportune moment, lol.
Formerly had the Batman & Joker avatar!

March 4, 2017 at 1:28 pm #1521259Oh wow. Love the video. Very relaxing to watch but at the same time show how time intensive each piece can be.
Once again, Thank you Melody for all that you do and for being so willing to take all of our suggestions into consideration!Looking for:
"COSMIC SHIFT DRAGONS and KI-RINS" and the "OCTOPUS TANUKI TEST PAINT #1"March 4, 2017 at 1:37 pm #1521261I too, would love to have a Sloat!

In a similar vein to this, I personally hope to see another griffin in their family in the future. You’ve got mama, papa, and the two chicks…but I’d love to see an angsty teenage fledgling. One could argue that the PYO kind of sort of fits that bit but it’ll never be done to match any production pieces (excepting commissions or painting it oneself) so I feel that that particular point is moot.
I’m also looking forward to seeing the finished quillin (or whatever Melody ends up naming her more lion-like kirin).
March 4, 2017 at 3:23 pm #1521271Aardwolf AND Thylacines – I don’t dare tell my oldest, she’ll go nuts. Do you think there is any possibility of one of those by the end of the year or is that just completely unreasonable?
March 4, 2017 at 5:36 pm #1521283Phew.. I wasn’t crazy after all… but actually right! But still that brush you were using is amazing. High Flow acrylic.. that might something good to look in for a my future PYO. Ah the Sloats! I would love a Sloat… or two or three… not sure what a group of them would be called… a pack, herd, flock, a school lol.. whatever it is I would love a whole group of them!
Exiting to see Podge when you can! I can’t hardly wait to see Garlen.. I think he will be on my wish list!!!
