It looks to me like that number is a social security number most likely put there by a previous owner of the big guy. Mine start with 557 also and ther are the correct amount if digits. I can’t tell in the pics if he has been repainted or not. Mine seems much darker to me put you know how cameras can change colors.
March 2, 2007 at 5:43 pm #540258Ohhh in the last half an hour i have fallen in love with the peacock oriental and i wanted to know what the sun oriental looked like in peacock but astral doesn’t have a picture. Know i know… Thanks for the pictures 😀

I thought of that, but if it was etched on by an owner, it should show white inside the numbers – these numbers are covered by paint and there is no difference in color here compared to elsewhere. He could have been totally repainted, but the felt pad is clean with no ‘oops’ mistakes on it, which would be very difficult to do. I think…
March 2, 2007 at 6:05 pm #540260you NEVER know some people can do amazing things. Th felt pads are sticky pads that can be replaced or pulled up and re glued. Granted it would be difficult to find one wiht the Windstone stamp on it but I’m sure it can be done

You’re welcome. When I first got into this, it was the one I wanted the most, and managed to score one (for a painful price) off ebay.
Now I just need to find a regular peacock oriental in the lighter colors like my sun and babe.
March 2, 2007 at 8:23 pm #540262Nice Oriental collection, Rusti.
Mikki, I like that brown emp, but it looks unusually shiny. Does it have purple on it?March 2, 2007 at 9:25 pm #540263I wonder if there is a way to tell if the Emperor is a true original brown pinted dragon

For some reason, he is a lot shinier in the picture. IRL he is dead matte. The gold on the scales down his neck, sides, and tail is the same sort of ‘old gold’ color as his horns and claws. His belly scales and the under-side of the wings do match well with other browns I’ve seen. Maybe someone did just repaint the main part of his body ?
I did Ask Melody 😉 about the number, she thinks he looks real but isn’t sure about the number, first thought was testing a different mix of gypsum and marked him, but who knows. Waiting to see if she found out anything.
thanks all for the comments, I really like the guy no matter what he is.
March 2, 2007 at 10:30 pm #540265I still say SSN I know I have heard of many people putting their SSN on valuable items in places like that so if they get stolen it’s supposed to make recovery easier

Yeah, I saw your Ask Melody thread. Looks like you’ve got an especially special brown emp.
March 3, 2007 at 9:37 am #540267Well, BEP OW #16 is home safe and sound. He is just plain gorgeous. I’m still sore about the customs fee, but it’s being drowned. Updated pics:
Curl collection:
The pieces at Wolfen’s, minus the peacock OW, the gargoyle eggs with eyes and claws, the panther gargoyle and the roaring sentinel:
And then I also have the emerald Riser, ruby Lap and peacock Scratcher. It grows and grows.March 3, 2007 at 9:44 am #540268Very nice, GB! That rainbow young is calling my name!
March 3, 2007 at 9:47 am #540269Shush, Rainbow! He’s my only rainbow piece so far; bought him just after they were retired. He must stay with me! 😛

😆 Im lovin the rainbow colors. Your spectral is nice, too, though I know I have said that before. Your OWs look very nice together. I bet they will have alot of fun gossiping.
March 3, 2007 at 9:54 am #540271I used the think rainbows were too gaudy, but after seeing all those rainbow families, I just love the color. I’ll try to scrape together a rainbow family as opportunities present themselves. First I want all the Spectrals, though. That’s still a priority.
