That baby is a great match for them! Congrats!

Thank you! The baby and the mom came to me as a set. They are very sweet together!

Ha! That’s a neat coincidence, considering I received that baby straight from the store (which I traded later), and you got the male pinto flame from me. I guess we all have similar taste.

That’s a trip! What excellent taste we all have 🙂

It really varies. Some grab bags can be over one hundred and others less than fifty. The hippie poads, fennec foxes, and curled dragon grab bags were either less or around fifty. When there isn’t very many there is a limit of one, when there is many sometimes the limit is lifted and you can get two.

And lots of secondary trading and selling takes place, so if a certain GB is up your alley, you can usually pick up a few more.

I know they arnt grab bags or anything special but Im happy to post my family.
I started out recently with only the flap cats found at a value village. Then recently we found a store selling windstones going out of buisness so we got the spectral, amethyst young dragon and fledgling, and the pink/gold fledge. The logostone also came from there as well. My dad brought me down the wizard from the yukon right after that. Today I got the peacock family from someone on craigslist at a great price as well.

Now I need to get a good case to protect them all 🙂

What a great set! The logo stone looks pretty cool. 🙂

Definitely avoid glass shelves on your case. So many horror stories!

What has happened with glass shelves?

Well, I’ve heard stories on the forum of them snapping under the weight of the Windstone sculptures. Much to the devastation of the owner and the sculptures themselves.

As for my own personal experience, my mother had an antique teacup collection in her china cabinet. Glass shelves in it spontaneously snapped right down the middle and dumped her entire collection to the bottom of the cabinet. Everything ended up smashed. After that, I don’t trust glass shelves all that much.

It will say right on top of the glass to stay under 25 pounds, so you have to check with Windstone to know what they weigh. I also learned not to slide something from one side to another, pick it up and put it down where you want it. And try to have the same weigh or close to it on either side.

Trina_hill, were you asking how many sculpts come as a grab bag? Maybe I misunderstood what you were looking for, but there are many sculptures that are painted as grab bags, baby unicorns, young unicorns, colts, mini keepers, curlies, most pebbles, tadpoads, young poads, as well as adult Poads…am I missing any, other than the new standing ki-rins

Hannah keeps a lovely directory of some of these. You can also shuffle through old threads, but most of the images have been moved or deleted.

also if you go with wooden shelves, don’t put heavy ones on higher shelves, keep the heavies to the bottom shelf…..wooden shelves can snap at the metal pins and or snap in half on the shelf wood and a big sad mess happens if you put too much on a higher shelf….stick to little guys on the higher shelves….

                    4 things I'm looking for:
                    1. Mother Meerkat
                    2. production color Sitting Young Oriental dragons to be made in more colors besides VF, Brimstone would be awesome!
                    3. Female Griffin – Siamese with White
                    4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male Griffin

Oh my this is looking more complicated than I thought. We were also thinking of repurposing a fish tank as a display case lined with black velvet ( sitting on the dresser or dvd cabinet). That is sounding safer at this point lol. They really are heavy beasties so I can imagine lots of problems now that Im thinking of it. We have a kitty cat so I want them enclosed for sure.

I’ve been using iron folding shelves sold by the Container Store. They’ve worked well so far …
