Hugs Skeeterdeee, I am glad that your family is OK and that the drivers of that trucks weren’t more seriously hurt. I am sure the whole experience must have been really shocking!

I’m glad you and your family are safe!February 28, 2011 at 5:25 am #838802OMG! I’m glad you and your family are alright and no one was killed! Definitely try to petition for some signage. I walked around my block for signatures and petitioned the village for our back alley to be made a one way (it’s way too narrow in several spots for more than a single vehicle to drive at the same time, and teachers and some kids were using it as a shortcut to speed up to the school in the morning. I’ve almost had my car slammed into multiple times by cars speeding at over 50 mph – speed limit is 15. Took some time and a little getting used to the one way, but it has cut the traffic and the speeding way down, since they can’t head up to the school and try to cut that light, since it’s one way in the opposite direction, and it doesn’t pay to try to cut the light in the opposite direction.). We have children who are home schooled behind us too, so it has helped in their safety as well.

*gasps* We have a similar problem on our street. Here are my horrid Pics!
This horrible event has left a permanent scar in my memories. Unlike yours, this one had a Fatality. I had the terrible experience of watching the person take their last breaths. 😮 😥February 28, 2011 at 12:51 pm #838804Glad you and everyone else is safe but sorry about your home.Maybe now they will post your road.Like I said, that’s why you elect them now make them do their job for y’all. You really have proof that something needs to be done.Things do happen for a reason.Chin up,it could have been much worse.Good luck. 🙂
Every act matters. No matter how small💞

That just makes me ill. It looks like the pickup driver had a stop sign? Hard to tell, since the car is obviously not anywhere near where it started.
February 28, 2011 at 5:05 pm #838806Either that, or the driver of the car decided they didn’t want to stop. Or weren’t looking. I saw something similar happen right in front of me when I was sitting at an intersection, waiting to turn left at a green light where there was oncoming traffic.
The van in front of me pulled right on out to hang a left and straight into the path of another van and got broadsided pretty hard, knocked it up onto two wheels for a second. Nobody got hurt too badly, but the driver in front of me should have been paying more attention.
March 1, 2011 at 2:50 am #838807Yes, this intersection is notorious for things like this. This is what I know about it: Said truck driver was driving too fast, and said car driver thought they could shoot the intersection.
There are two dangerous times of the day here… mid-morning, and mid-afternoon. Because the road faces east-west, there is a huge solar glare problem, not to mention many drivers with a poor sense of speed perception. Evey year, we have at least 4 accidents at this spot.there is a two-way stop sign, but I think what we really need is a street light. The speed limit on this road, is only 30, but people like to careen through at speeds of 45, and even 50 late at night. The Hospital is literally across the street from us.Last week we had another accident, but this time it was minor enough that all drivers, and passengers were okay. However… both vehicles had to be towed away on flat beds. When I call 911, to report these accidents, the dispatcher actually said; “Again?” I am serious! It really is that frequent!
March 1, 2011 at 9:39 pm #838808Awe skeeter I’m glad that no one is seriously injured, and that your house is repairable.
And DreamingTree, that must have been awful. 🙁 I’ve seen that before too (though not into a house, it was a collision on a road and I was nearby), and it’s just… STUCK. And that was YEARS ago! And we just won’t mention the after-effects of a motorcycle collision I saw while on vacation in the eastern part of the country.
I wish people would just realize that speeding does in fact kill people! And that those people could be them, or someone they know. “It’ll never happen to me” is far too common.
