You ahh living in hunting land? They have doe/buck urine at hunting stores, pet the little bugger with that! And if you find out its the old lady bringing the presents to your place via the camcorder mix it with some water and fill up a super soaker and spray her ass with it crazy old bag!

    😆 😆
Oh my gosh-it is TOO tempting to take revenge, isn’t it?

The lady really mustn’t care about the dog; I am not sure what Iowa’s coyote population is like but around here, small dogs and cats running loose often end up coyote food.
      Or roadkill.
Or, if they are small enough, even hawks will sometimes take them if the opportunity arises.
Not to mention a billion other things that a dog could get into to cause it serious injury or worse!

People are so irresponsible with life sometimes. 🙁

        Agreed.
Or foxes, or even Domestic/Feral cats for a Chihuahua.
I’m also agreeing to what it feels like many others are thinking. The Dog may not be exactly “unsupervised” on it’s morning “rounds”. (hell that thing’s probably drove over & placed there)

Ah, wait…skeeterdeee…you’re in Iowa? I might just call animal control for you. 😛

No, I’m near Pittsburgh, PA. We have hawks, coyotes, red foxes, and so far this winter I have seen 6 wolves in our woods. Our chihuahua is only outside when we are, because I’m afraid of a hawk or a large owl to swoop down and nab him. 😮

Crazy weird neighbors are one of my favorite topics, but beware. This isn’t a sane person, and who knows what is going on with her(and her poor kids!) The dog poo may be the most harmless problem here.

A close friend of ours had a similar situation with a strange neighbor. It was all kinda funny; the increasingly weird events made entertaining stories, until this kook put a BOMB in our friends mailbox! Not a fire cracker, a real fricking home made bomb. Blew the thing into shrapnel all over the street. The cops had a field day with the bomb squad all over the place and everything. No one was hurt, but it could of easily seriously injured, blinded or KILLED a person walking by.
DO NOTHING to draw her attention to you. BE REALLY CAREFUL.

There shouldn’t be any wild wolves in PA, but the coyotes in this area and yours have wolf in them so they are larger and more “wolf-like” than most ‘yotes:

That must be what we’ve seen!! Whatever lives here has a LONG deep howl. Bigger coyotes would produce deeper howls, wouldn’t they? It was really neat, last fall we turned off the tv and sat by the open living room window at night and would listen to them for an hour or two at a time. I tried to catch it with my video camera, but it didn’t pick up the sound. It was really awesome!

I was confused because Jennifer mentioned Iowa. I was like, “what?” 😛

I think as long as I do what Miss Melody said, play it safe, it shouldn’t get THAT bad. I just want her to stop being so disrespectful of her neighbors! 😡

Coydogs can get pretty big as well. I know there have been some cases of wild wolves in New England (one was just run over in Western MA about a year ago, and confirmed to not be a hybrid). There are some cougars in the Catskills as well. DEC won’t mention them, but the professors in the Bio dept. of my college were quite aware of their presence, scat, prints and all, though they are few and far between. Guess they don’t want to make too much noise about it and there are more than enough deer and other prey to keep them filled up and it’s rural enough for them to stay out of sight. They’d all find small little dogs quite tasty though. :yum:

I am really curious about that. I can’t figure out why, even if there are only a very few, no one has any evidence at all? No photos of prints, scat, or trailcam photos (NY hunters put up a buttload of trailcams).
I don’t want to blow this off topic entirely though but… yes. Many wild animals would find a tiny dog to be a snack because unlike most prey items dogs aren’t necessarily always on ‘predator alert’ with the same survival instincts.

Why not leave her a friendly neighbor letter discribing the hazards out there and concern for her dog’s and the children’s safety? You can catch more bees with honey than vinegar.I would try all possible “good will” ideas before I would call the Law.Granted, document with film as much as possible and whatever other proof you can get but beware of revenge.Like Ms.Melody said,it could turn real bad for you and yours. If the letter, maybe with neighbor’s signatures too, asking her to stop the “un-neighborly” behavior doesn’t work, then step it up a notch with the Law.Be sure and keep copies of all correspondences with her in case this would escalate to court, never know.Request a speeding sign and perhaps a police patrol for a few days in your neighborhood from your city leaders. That wouldn’t hurt. You do have the right to request a speeding sign where children are present and play.Well,at least I hope your city would take this into account even in rural areas.Where I was living, same as you,on a back road less traveled, there was a deaf child that played in her yard and the family requested a sign to bring this to the “locals” attention in the neighborhood and the town had no problem with it.After all, that’s why you pay your taxes and vote in your Mayors,City Councilmen, etc. into office.Maybe contact her Landlord,as a last result, too.Good luck with it and I hope it all works out for the better. 🙂

Every act matters. No matter how small💞
