Thanks everyone. Your kindness has definitely helped. It’s still hard, but we’re all moving forward as we can.
My cousin is an airline pilot, so he and his wife nabbed some standby seats on a flight and swept my aunt off for a couple weeks in a warm and sunny place to cheer her up some. Grieving in an Oregon winter is adding insult to injury really – it’s just so GRAY.
I am always amazed at how strong my family is and how lucky I am to have them. And, as sad as we are, the grave is not the end. We’ll all be together again someday.
So sorry about your loss but you have a positive attitude. I feel we’ll be with those we lost someday–in the meantime, they’re always in our heart.

My aunt’s mother passed away yesterday. (Yes, the one whose husband just passed away).
Is there an official petition form to ask for a moratorium on people dying? Just for a couple months? Honestly – I am getting a far more extensive wardrobe in black than I ever had a desire to own.

Thanks everyone – this one isn’t as hard for me personally (I knew Helen, but in the way you know people who are at family gatherings, but that you don’t spend a lot of time with), but I just feel terrible for my aunts and their family. My dad’s two older brothers married sisters, so we spent a lot of time with my aunts’ families growing up.
Our family just seems to be shrinking at a break neck pace lately.
I could just really use some GOOD news.
