So which new author did you recently fall in love with and what can you tell us about their work?

My new crush is Morgan Howell, author of the Queen of the Orcs trilogy. I discovered him because one of his books was facing out on its shelf at the book store and I liked the cover art. When I picked it up to read the summary, it seemed interesting so I bought the first book and I LOVED it! Couldn’t wait to get the other two!

The author portrays the Orcs in such a different and interesting way! And he really creates a great history and culture for them. These are not the Orcs that we’re used to reading about as the typical mean and stupid brutes of fantasy litterature.

I highly recommend him and can’t wait for his next trilogy.

I just picked up that trilogy. Glad to hear that someone else enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read it.

The latest new author for me was Carrie Vaughn and the Kitty Norvillr books. I got them as an omnibus and read the 600+ pages in a weekend.

          She’s a werewolf with a radio talkshow.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I love that series. The next book comes out in January I think.

Sounds interesting, I might have to give her a try.

I’m currently reading the Blood Books from Tanya Huff. I had tried her Quarters novels a few years ago but wasn’t hooked. It’s the TV series based on her novels, Blood Ties (http://www.bloodtiestv.com/), that got me to give her another chance and halfway through the second book, I can say that I’m glad I did.

I recently picked up a book by a one Patrick Rothfuss, new on the scene. It’s the first in a series called The Name of the Wind. The read was good, and I’m looking forward to his next installment in what appears to be a trilogy.

I only wish, however, that he had managed to break the story up so that each book ended more clearly, as opposed to an ending similar to Pirates of the Carribean 2.
