This thread is for artists and non artists alike!
PYO painters, feel free to post your information about doing custom paint jobs. You’re encouraged to use the ‘form’ below (thank you Mimitrek) to help standardize things a bit and allow for less confusion, however you don’t have to.
This thread is intended to help individuals that might want a custom painted PYO commission from an artist but they don’t know what artists are available. There are many people that enjoy Windstones and would love to have a custom job, but lack the ability (or just don’t want to) paint a piece.
Please remember that Windstone does discourage repaints of production Windstone pieces (this excludes PYOs of course) and reproduction of existing Windstone paint jobs or color schemes (i.e. peacock, black gold, emerald peacock, autumn leaf, any Windsonte color scheme, etc) is not permitted (and is actually illegal). If you are afraid something is ‘too close’ it is best to check with Windstone Staff before proceeding.
This thread is for custom commission info only- please use other threads to advertise your completed pieces! 🙂
Important legal stuff: The information below and services provided by individuals on this forum in no way reflects or are associated with Windstone Editions or it’s staff. Windstone claims no responsibility for the information or services posted by the users of the forum. Basically, remember that any problems you may have with a commissioner or client are with that person one on one and Windstone isn’t involved or responsible. Thanks!! 🙂

First payment must cover the cost of sculpture and shipping to me, payment has to be complete before I ship out the finished piece.Just in case anybody cares, here’s my fursuit commissions info. I make plush critters too (most are $25), and I customize My Little Ponies as well. Prices vary.

Sculpture______Price is for Painting Only
***PLEASE NOTE, you may send me the sculpture directly, or I can order the sculpture for the commissioner & have it shipped to me at commissioners additional expense direct from the Windstone Online Store. For forum members I generally try to keep PYOs on the cheaper side of my price range, but the more markings & blending involved are what make the price go up. I am very particular & wet blending takes many hours to complete to my personal standards.Prices Range by Degree of Difficulty
Griffin _______$150-$250
Kirin _______$115-$150
Dragon (small)_$125-$175
Wolf _______$115-$150
Keeper Dragon _$225-$275Type(s) of paint used(e.g., acrylic): Acrylic paint and various Royal brand brushes
Brand(s) of paint used (e.g., Golden): Golden Brand Acrylic & Interference. I also use Anita’s, Americana, Folk Art, and Apple Barrel.
Are pet portraits offered: Of course, just send me a picture of your pet.
Shipping method (e.g., double boxed): double boxed with origional box, I always ship Priority Mail for smaller PYOS, and usually send Keepers UPS, but I can use whatever method is preferred.
Shipping rates/insurance: Depends on zipcode. I use the shipping calculator on the usps/ups website. Insurance is optional and usually runs around 2 bucks additional. It’s IS reccommended however since I’m claim no responsibility for damaged items. However I’ve never had a break in shipping thus far because I always double box.
Ships to: Just about anywhere, at the buyers expense.
Payment Method: I take Postal Money Order or Paypal. Payments are accepted, though I’ll paint the whole thing with no down payment required. It doesn’t matter to me. I just need full payment before it’s shipped out is all. I also take trades for other Windstones. Right now I am looking for an Amethyst Lap Dragon and a Gold Scratching Dragon.Other comments: I generally can spend between 12-20 hours on a single piece, but I have spent over 30-40 hours on some before. I also send pictures as your sculpture comes along so you can make any changes you wish as it is painted. I am EXTREAMLY ANAL and meticulous and I always catch every last detail. I’m sure you will LOVE your Windstone when I’m through with it.

– Minor restoration (e.g., chips): Price varies depending on the degree of breakage (between 25 to 50 bucks not including shipping fees normally)

After:
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h196/drag0nfeathers/Repairs/100_1192.jpg– Major restoration (e.g., missing pieces): Once again, price would vary depending on the amount of breakage. Most I have worked on that were MAJOR restorations were for myself because with the amount of time it takes to fully restore, it’s usually less expensive to just replace the item. I will however price them on a case by case basis if someone wants me to restore, or even repaint the piece entirely.

Prices are based on complexity of design but they are flexible (especially for forum members!) I will take payments (this must be arranged with me before hand), though piece will not be shipped out until final payment is recieved. I put tons of detail and hours of hard work into these guys – you won’t be disappointed!
Many of my paint jobs have been and will be one of a kind. All pet portraits/memorials, for instance, will be one of a kind. But unless something is specified as “one of a kind” (OOAK) it is an open edition and I may reproduce it in the future. I will number any pieces that are done in a series like this – an example would be my “Tabby Tiger” griffins. Each one is slightly different from the others, making it unique, but they are all painted to look similar to the original Tabby Tiger griffin. They are numbered in the order that they were commissioned.

Shipping rates/insurance (Exact, or do you add a packing fee?): Depends on destination and whether speed is more important than saving a buck. I use Canada Post which has a variety of shipping options (you can use http://www.canadapost.ca to give you the different options under the Calculate A Rate section) and Insurance is included with some services
Ships to (US, North America, Woldwide, etc): Anywhere at the buyer’s expenseOther comments: I do accept payment in installments but the piece will not be shipped out until final payment is recieved. I usually spend at least 15 hours on a piece, as long as it takes to get the look right. I am meticulous and enjoy a challenge, the more complicated the better. I personally enjoy doing colourations that mimic real animals but I also love colour so I’ll do just about anything – especially iridescent colourations using interference paint. Photo updates of your piece are available upon request. Each piece is sealed with a glossy spray unless you specifically tell me otherwise. Each piece will be signed on the felt pad and will be accompanied with a letter of authencity from me. I take international money orders (not US money orders, I can’t cash them :/) and I prefer certified cheque for payment but I will also accept Paypal with an added 4% charge to cover the fees Paypal charges me for large money transfers ^_^

What do you mean exactly? The kind of payment we can take or are you talking about whether we are ok with people paying in a series of installments?
February 6, 2007 at 4:12 am #535528Series of installments agreed upon by buyer and seller at time of commission request.

LOL I went to go edit that in, and found that I had put it there to begin with! ;P I’m feeling a little scatterbrained…

PYO Painting Rates
Painting + Sculpture (If you already have sculpt than just subtract value of sculpt from my prices.)
Griffin – $150
Kirin – $150
Dragon (small) – $150
Keeper (large) – Can’t say till I paint one and test the difficulty- sorry!
Wolf (Not Currently Offered)
These are starting rates—but unless you want something crazy then they won’t really go up much more than this.Type(s) of paint/materials used: Pretty much any paint kind or brand- also gold/silver/copper leaf – depending on what you want done this will be a bit extra.
Are pet portraits offered: Yes on dragons, griffins and kirins.
Shipping method (e.g., double boxed): All my packages are double boxed, shipped US Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and full insurance. USA $12.00 Global: I have to check prices… Generally: $18-$22
Ships to (US, North America, Worldwide, etc): Worldwide
Artist location (e.g. “California”, for shipping purposes): NYOther comments: I will definitly let you pay in installments- I would just keep it in my paypal account until paid in full. I will not start a project before it is paid for tho. I am open to anything. I prefer paypal or money orders but will take personal checks too. I love adding to a piece (swarvski crystals, river stone etc) and painting scenes/vines/flowers/animals onto the piece etc
One other point—each of my pieces are one of a kind—I will not reproduce a piece- ever.
The only exception to this rule is if the owner of the original asked me to reproduce the piece for some reason (loss/stolen/fire etc)… but even then it would be hard for me to do it without the original in hand.
I know I am rather new to PYO Windstones but Figured someone may want to know this info.Links to Pictures:

PYO Painting Rates
These rates are static. Only if you want every hair and every barb in a feather painted individually will the rate go up by ten or twenty bucks. But otherwise, the feather or scale gets the same amount of attention whether you want one or five colors on it.Painting + Sculpture (It’s cheaper shipping-wise to commission both sculpture and painting, since I buy en masse and shipping goes down to $10 a piece. Of course, if you insist on using your own sculpture, you may subtract $40 for a griffin, wolf or Small Dragon or $45 for a Kirin. But shipping the piece over here will cost about $15-20.)
Griffin $180
Kirin $130
Wolf $100
Small Dragon $130
Keeper Dragon ca. $200 (not set yet)Type(s) of paint/materials used: Acrylic
