i was thinking otter or ferret, theres also a sculpy type clay called makins clay, this you can find at micheals or on e-bay,i got mine off e-bay,but there was a few colors i had to get from micheals, this is also another air dry clay,it looks just like sculpy, they just dont have as many colors as of yet,but they are easy to mix together, and you can even mix acrylic paints into it to make custom colors 🙂

I got some glass eyes off of ebay that are supposed to be for stuffed toys because I haven’t the slightest clue how to sculpt an eye….I love otters and this is what I came up with….He’s done in oil clay so he’s just a learning piece…I’d like your opinions but am pretty nervous about showing him to anyone…
That is just tooo Cute! I like it! Maybe I should show off my horse that I did???
But I mean it, it is CUTE!October 22, 2007 at 3:51 am #609950I’m hoping for some fresh ideas and comments on my first dragon sculpt…granted, he is a snail dragon and kinda freaky, still in progress too…I’ve got red and amber (whichever fits) glass eyes on their way and then I’ll be sculpting on the face more…i’ve also made the ear furry instead of scaly since this last pic…
I think in this pic the back ear is furry, but I hadn’t redone the front one yet…also considering reworking his forehead again….sigh… 🙄
October 22, 2007 at 4:08 am #609951Goodness I bet that took some work! It looks great so far! Can’t wait to see it with its eyes! 🙂
October 22, 2007 at 4:10 am #609952Not done yet though. He’s still gonna have a long tail that i have yet to figure the positioning for and I have his head to do…which will no doubt be the toughest of all. The wings are still very rough too. 🙄
October 22, 2007 at 4:21 am #609953Your otter is sooooo good so I am sure that this one will turn out very well! What are you useing?
October 22, 2007 at 4:25 am #609954The otter was oil clay, the dragon snail is super sculpey. 😀
October 22, 2007 at 4:28 am #609955Is that like sculpey III (3)?
October 22, 2007 at 4:33 am #609956I havent the slightest clue…it was in a green and white box and was the only kind at the art store when I went…..I’ll be needing to find that box now…hmmmm…
October 22, 2007 at 4:44 am #609957Sculpey III you can bake in the oven at 275 for how ever long and big your piece is (that sounds bad) lol!
October 22, 2007 at 4:47 am #609958Actually this fellow’s core has a wire and aluminum foil inner structure so he won’t take an eternity to bake. So it’s not as bad as it seems. 😀
October 22, 2007 at 4:47 am #609959Oh god I love Snails…That is just so cute!
I want one! ^^ I’m looking forward to seeing this all finished!
Awesome Job
October 22, 2007 at 4:50 am #609960I’m wanting to test the terrifying prospects of casting once he’s done…but I really haven’t a clue, the otter was my first sculpture ever so I’m still pretty new to this…I’d like to cast a couple though, so I can try out different color schemes on him when he’s done. 😀
October 22, 2007 at 4:55 am #609961that would be awesome, definately keep posting pictures, the process is fun to watch grow.
October 22, 2007 at 4:56 am #609962Most def! 😀
