Sensitive subject? I’m not sure.
I do not want to hurt the feelings of anyone I’ve swapped with, but is it bad etiquette to swap or PIF swap pieces?
I’m trying to down-size some and get ready for a possible move. I don’t feel I should sell them. I got them for basically ‘free’.
Just want to hear others’ thoughts. Thanks.

February 19, 2016 at 9:28 am #942250Like pyo swap pieces? Wouldn’t people just consider them like pyos they would buy or trade for and could re-trade them or sell them? If you paid for the piece you swapped and put time into painting then you aren’t really getting one for free but as a trade for something you put time and money into. So I think you should be able to get money back if you decide to sell or trade it for something else. I wouldn’t mind if people re-traded or sold pieces I painted for them. It’s their piece to decide what to do with it. I have seen pyos for sale on here and on ebay too and I wouldn’t know the difference if they were swap pieces or not.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
February 19, 2016 at 11:39 am #942251I had a similar thought – I’d hate to hurt someone’s feelings. But in my opinion (and others too I’ve read) is that when everything is said and done, your Windstone pieces, no matter if bought-traded-gifted-or other, are yours to do with as you wish. Goes for any Windstones: Production, GB, Special or PYO.
Tastes change, space is sometimes limited, funds get tight, etc. If it were one of my PYO’s I’d painted for a swap I don’t think it would really bother me if my previous swapee sold or traded my piece. It’ll hopefully be rehomed to someone else who would love it even more…perhaps an admirer from afar or a new collector to start their Windstone collection. 🙂

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmFebruary 19, 2016 at 1:17 pm #942263I haven’t done any swaps. But I would tell someone I swapped with that it is theirs, to do with as they wish.

Every now and then someone will host a swap. It’s where you email them that you are willing to do a swap and they will enter your name basically into a hat. Once they have all the names they pull them out and notify everyone of their swap partners name along with some basic ideas of what that person is looking for in a paint your own (PYO). You then have a set amount of time (usually several weeks) to get the PYO sculpt and paint it and then mail it to your swap partner and vise versa.
They will also host these on occasion for other things like, a chocolate care package, full of chocolates from around your area that others might not see or have access to or handmade Christmas ornaments.
There are some beautiful swap pieces painted. It is a fun way to get an original piece of art.

How fun! Too bad I can’t paint! LoL But the treats unique to where you live thing is pretty cool. In Arizona we have some interesting ones, for sure. Like prickly pear suckers, which are yum! And some stuff unique to the native american populations around here, too. Fun “souvenirs” and post cards! Oooh, a post card swap would be fun! Sending postcards from your area, that could be neat! I hope whenever another swap happens that I am able to participate!

Hm. Well for a suggestion, here’s something I’ve been contemplating. What about a rock painting swap? You know, those round flat river rocks that are all over the place.

I tried to think about how I would feel if I entered a swap and someone sold my piece, and I have to say I would not be happy about it. I would not be able to say anything about it because I agree – the piece that I swap is the person’s who I swapped to, but I guess I’ve just always been under the impression that selling swap pieces would be frowned upon because I wouldn’t feel good about doing it and I wouldn’t feel good about it being done with a piece I painted.
Seeing someone trade a piece I swapped would sting less, but certainly for a moment I would wonder what I did wrong on the piece to make the person want to trade it away.
Again, there’s really nothing I’d be able to say against it, but I wouldn’t like having a piece I swapped sold for money. It would certainly make me think twice about entering swaps anymore.
