our neighbor has those and the white ones….and they smell so strong when you walk out the front door (of course I happen to be really allergic to them)
My college campus has them all over it! I loved when they would bloom and I was there (or when I visit now :D). A friend of mine hated it because she is allergic to them (love the smell, but hates being around them), so she’d try to avoid them when she could.
Up here, ours are just starting to bud with leaves. They generally don’t bloom until May.
I love lilacs. I was so sad when the big lilac tree in our garden got ripped around by a storm a few years ago. Now it’s pretty scraggly.

Yes… last year I had a few “average garden spiders” inbetween the lilac’s and the house… needless to say my girls STOPPED going there!
