How are you pups feeling, Ski? Bacchus turned out to be a handsome boy! Princess is adorable, too.
They are Ok. Moocah is limping for some reason and Rab always limps. 😆 Im taking Rab with me to see GB tomorrow! The cat is annoying. I dont know why I got a cat.
Lucky Rab! and you! 😉 I limp, too sometimes…it’s just old age. 😆 Why is Bacchus annoying? Maybe you should drop him off here on your way Hawaii. 😀

He rubs his face up against me, follows me to the bathroom (Which is really handy when I need to put him in the carrier… I just go sit on the toilet..), runs away when I need to catch him, and is just a general pest. I guess everyone needs an annoying family member. He has jsut started trying to get out the door when I open it. That, combined with the running away when I need to catch him, is not boding well for the future. 😕

The dog had to weigh over 120lbs..big boy, but she had one of those pinch collars on him and I guess she just didn’t know how to use it properly.
She knew her dog was bad (at least I’m assuming she knew cuz of the muzzle she had on him) and I think she should have taken him to a vet where they could have sedated him or something. I should have turned her away, but that’s my job and I had to try to take care of him for her. So maybe it’s my fault? 😕You can’t turn away people? Be carefull, everytime I got bit (one time caused nerve damage to my left hand) the owner always said “Oh, what did you do to my dog?” Never any appologies, ever. I was never afraid of large dogs. I had a bolt in the wall they were secured to, if the dog tried to bite, I’d just stretch the leg away and clip the nails that way.
I always got mad at people who let their dog “mouth” a persons hands. That led to a bite from a golden retriever. “Oh, but, he would never bite” 🙄
Were you taught how to do nails on a potentially agressive dog?
February 15, 2008 at 5:14 pm #661317The owner (my boss) insists that we have to take in every dog no matter what because she needs the money. The dog attacked me as soon as he saw me (for the most part), I didn’t even get a chance to even try to do his nails. We get some dogs that come in that are so bad for everything that they’ll do alligator rolls on the table and all kinds of stuff. We still have to take them back. It’s amazing how many vicious dogs we still take in.
I had been at that shop for 3 1/2 hours by myself at night when she came in with the dog. I was there checking out customers with my arm bleeding all over the place by myself because no other employee wanted to come back to close including the boss. I called her and she said that she was out on a date and I was just going to have to wrap my arm up somehow so customers don’t see it.
customers always blame the dog bitting on us, we get that all the time “what did you do?”, “my dog has never bitten anyone” blah blah blah….My most wanted list: Peacock kitty wizard, carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties
February 15, 2008 at 7:55 pm #661318We have a Rottie named Duchess in our Doggie Class that we take our dog too who is a real sweetie. She has issues with other dogs (which is what the class is addressing) but loves people. I’ve even gotten a ‘kiss’ from her. 😀 Duchess limps too and she has bad hips. I’ve seen and heard of alot of Rotties tha do this, maybe it’s something with the breed?

Aw, he loves you…: -) Get a squirt bottle and leave it by the door to squirt him when he makes a run for it. Eventually he will run (the other way) when you pick up the bottle. lol

Most large dogs get the hip problem. It has to do with the size.

customers always blame the dog bitting on us, we get that all the time “what did you do?”, “my dog has never bitten anyone” blah blah blah….That’s awfull! With the time spent wrestling with one you could have gotten more good dogs done. You need to find another place to groom. She’s crazy. Not even my friend Lori would take…oh, maybe she would. My friend Lori is a crazy groomer. She believes in quantity over quality. I’ve seen her book 16 dogs in one day. Her customers love her for some reason.
When I did groom for her she dumped all of her difficult dogs onto me. I have a way with old and nervous dogs. Even abused dogs trust me. I’m glad I was never in grooming for the money. I did it because I loved it. When I stopped loving it, I knew it was time to move on.
But, stupid as it is. When a groomer gets hurt and they should be at a hospital or doctor. They’ll keep grooming. I’ve done it. Even after the bite that caused the nerve damage. I still kept grooming. Oh, I was in agony, and I couldn’t really do anything with my left hand. I still had a job to do. And get this, I had to do a toy poodle. Shaved feet, and face. I’d say tail but, whoever had docked this puppy took way too much off the tail. After that I had a few other dogs to do as well. I never did go to the hospital. I’m glad there were no lasting problems. I have almost full movement in my hand now, it’s still numb. But, it’s getting better.
February 16, 2008 at 1:13 am #661324This all happened after all the dogs were finished. Getting a dog’s nails trimmed only is a walk in service and that’s where she came in. I was there to send all the dogs home and close the shop down for the day.
I’ve kept working after a bad bite too. But this was BAD. His nails were sharp and curved like fish hooks and when he mauled my arm they basically went in and ripped out…nasty. The last holiday we had (monday I think it was martin luther king bday?? not sure), I was the only one in the bathing room and she booked over 34 dogs for that day. It was a mess. I was a groomer in training but my boss decided to train someone else (a girl that has helped her with her horses) over me. She told me straight up that she believes that I was too “unstable” to be a groomer. After months of promising me she would train me. (I get bad mood swings every once in a while that I’m taking meds for) The girl she’s training is very mean, very rude to customers and treats the dogs like garbage. And yet she gets to groom…I think it’s because she hooked my boss up with her uncle (gross).
I’ve been looking for a new job now for the past few weeks. I was going through a rough time with my family and I needed a day off, so I tried to get out of working that friday cuz we were so slow, she told me she would check with the other girl (the one above) and would call me back. She never did and never answered any of my calls. So I went into work and broke down crying in the back room…she gave me a week off to get things situated. She never answered my calls and sent me text messages saying that she had covered my hours for the following week. Once again ignoring my calls and putting me on part time weekends only “until summer”.
When she finally called me she was telling me nothing but lies about why she put me on weekends only. I was shocked at what I was hearing. Amazing.
oops didn’t mean to type so much. 😕My most wanted list: Peacock kitty wizard, carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties
February 16, 2008 at 12:19 pm #661325Oh, I know that nails are just a walk in service. But, taking in aggressive dogs is insane. Some people shouldn’t own dogs. That rottie owner shouldn’t.
I hope you find somewhere else. That groomer is insane. I never thought I’d find a groomer that rivals Lori…..(I shouldn’t be surprised though) Is there a grooming school near by? They cost alot but, it would be better than learning from a bad groomer. Good luck hun. I wish you were closer to me, if I still had a buisness I’d take you on. (I might not have been able to pay you at first, but, as you get confident then I would have been able to book a few dogs just for you.)
If you ever do open your own buisness, know that turning away bad dogs isn’t the end of your buisness. Good dogs take less time to groom and normally the owner takes better care of them and will come in more often. That’s who paid my bills, my regulars. The ones that only came 1-3 times a year didn’t. Some owners will come in every 3-6 weeks. They are the people that you need. Again good luck. 🙂
Now back to the pictures! 😀
February 16, 2008 at 1:28 pm #661326The nearest grooming school is in Baltimore. That’s a bit of a hike from here. I’m not sure if I want to go back into that business anymore…the scars are starting to build up and they don’t look to pretty.
thanks for the luck…
agreed more pics please.. 🙂
