This one went to Canada, so tracking or confirmation isn’t possible through USPS or I have been told that from the post office here where I live.
The person you spoke with was misinformed or just didn’t care to look up the info (what else is new right?!)
There are several USPS services which allow tracking across the border and confirm delivery as well. It’s true that the cheapest option “First class mail international can’t be tracked, but Priority mail international and Express mail international can be and have been tracked right to my door in Montreal.
Furthermore, it can be tracked with the Canadian postal service as well:
http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/track/personal/findByTrackNumber?execution=e1s1
So any postal service employee who tells you you can’t track accross the border or get delivery confirmation simply doesn’t know and is too lazy to find out.
This is extremely annoying to me as an international buyer since some people won’t sell to me, following this kind of misinformation!
October 21, 2011 at 1:08 pm #860578I have had a ebay account for about 4 years…I thought I would sell more on it, but it is true, too many fees, and restrictions. They seem to cater only to super sellers. I think that is their mistake.
I use Etsy, And Artfire now…and will continue to do so. Etsy is becoming very popular, and you can sell things that aren’t hand made. There are special categories for that. I am fairly sure Artfire is also the same in those regards.
I am mostly a buyer these days on ebay.
October 21, 2011 at 3:08 pm #860589I often find myself wondering if they hold onto people’s money ‘in limbo’ for as long as possible, because it might be earning them interest? I have no way of knowing for sure or not of course. It’s speculation.

BUT….
“IT’S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!” lol
How much ” interest” could they earn in 21 days or less? (Even more)

Thank you for the info! I’ll keep that in mind the next time I send to Canada!

October 27, 2011 at 3:16 pm #861046So, I’m the newest victim of the holding of $$.
I’ve been on Ebay for YEARS, have 327 feedback scores, 100% feedback rating and 10/10 stars…WTH????
I’ll no longer sell on Ebay and will look into other means for paying besides Paypal.
I contacted Paypal like their email said to and let them know they just lost a customer. Not like 1 person will matter, but would urge everyone to do the same as far as contacting them and telling them it’s an unjust and baseless act.
Now to cancel a couple sales. Sigh.October 27, 2011 at 5:07 pm #861052have you called customer service?
October 27, 2011 at 5:45 pm #861055Did the contact through email. We’ll see what happens, but I’m not holding my breath.
October 27, 2011 at 7:43 pm #861063I called and spoke to customer service when this happened to me. The first fellow I talked to told me that there was nothing he could do about it, so I demanded to talk to a supervisor.
The supervisor told me he could do nothing for me either – Paypal straight DOES NOT CARE about their customers at all. Even when I told them “fine, cancel my account right now”, they shot back with the snarky “well that’s your decision to make”. F- Paypal, and f- Ebay. Not caring an ounce about your customers gets you on an immediate blacklist from me.

I knew they werer getting high, but have to go back and do some calculation. That’s as bad as IRS! LOL.October 27, 2011 at 10:16 pm #861070Just for “fun”, I tracked down all the combined fees from Paypal and ebay for an item I sold last summer. So the selling price was $40.00 and all fees combined came to $9.24 which is about 23%. Maybe not 30%, but still way too high.
In fact, although I still buy on ebay, I no longer sell there. If I’m going to loose that much money, I’d rather lower my price and sell here.
October 27, 2011 at 10:48 pm #8610739.24 from $40 is way high. Wow. I hadn’t really noticed how much they were taking.
