Dude!
Paypal just sent me a message earlier that they will now start holding my funds for 21 days.
WTF!!!!
I have a 100% feedback rating on ebay, which I hardly ever use anyway! Why, all of a sudden, are they starting to screw their customers?? This seriously infuriates me.
Just last week I got a Paypal debit card. Awesome, I thought! This will help me keep my money for things seperate – I can get gas, groceries, and supplies with this money immediately instead of waiting until paypal sends the money to my bank account! Excellent!
Well, I got gas and groceries yesterday and this morning they’ve told me they will now hold my funds. WTH??? What do they expect me to do with a debit card? This seems MUCH too much of a coincidence for it not to be somehow related. I’m so angry right now.
If they don’t lift this I will be going old school, boycotting ebay and doing money orders from now on. I mean, in 21 days I can get someone to send me a check, cash it, and be on my merry way. I’m sorry but F Paypal.

But of course, neither of which you can use with ebay.
September 21, 2011 at 10:18 pm #857349Well that’s fine, I don’t really care to use ebay much anymore after all the crap I’ve gone through with them too.
I have looked into alertpay and they don’t accept people from New Hampshire (yeah, wtf?). I’m leaning towards paying the yearly $50 fee and going with propay.com – I probably pay at least that in paypal fees, so why not!

October 6, 2011 at 10:42 pm #859335PayPal called ME today! I was scared at first-like, OMG whats wrong?! The lady was like, “Oh, we’re calling some of our most valued customers {yeah right} to make sure that everything has been okay. Have you been receiving all the merchandise you’ve ordered from sellers? Have you had a problem with anything you’ve bought recently?”
o.O since when do you care, PayPal? I did tell her of my recent gripe-when I tried paying for things I’d won on ebay, I wasn’t given the option for “instant transfer” only credit/debit card or e-check. *fume* I did send one person an e-check. Supposedly, when you use paypal to pay for something you bought from Sally, you’re actually using Paypal’s money, and by submitting payment to Sally, you’re agreeing to have your account debited/charged for the amount. Supposedly there were too many pending payments at that moment and
*cough* Paypal couldn’t afford another instant transfer (of like $13 that I was trying to send) ???? Supposedly its within the system and nothing to do with me personally.I say we all come together and start a new company to give Paypal some competition!
October 6, 2011 at 11:39 pm #859339Grrr (paypals site was messed up when I went there last BUT the “Call us” tab is back)
Ebay….EvilBay…
you’ve been a member for 6 months or less *I’ve been a member for 4 years*
your feedback score is low *mine is 100%*
Your stars are low *I am 5 for 5*Number of transactions….. that is what is killing me here and they have 7 on record for the last 12 months and I know I’ve had MORE (15)…. and I know that I have sold more than 600.00 bucks (2,036.51)….. Grrrrrrrrrrr any excuse to come up with they freaking use. *steams leaves ears* SORRY…. I had to vent…. 🙁
October 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm #859378PP was doing this to me over a year ago–I was recovering from surgery, had lost my job, and was on disability. Money was TIGHT. So I had to sell most of my Windstones.
I’ve been an ebay member for 13 years, had 100% feedback, almost 100 scores, all that jazz. They still held my payments too, for 21 days or till the buyer left postitive feedback.
It was such crap. I had my ‘net turned off more than once because I had no money to pay the bills–though plenty was sitting in my PP account. Ugh, now I’m getting mad just remembering it. I really feel for you all.
I sold as many pieces as I could and shipped them as fast as I could, and asked the buyers to leave feedback promptly. Managed to get my ebay feedback high enough that they don’t do this anymore.
Unfortunately that’s the only solution I know of. 🙁
October 8, 2011 at 10:09 pm #859468Their new excuse for me is the number of transactions… I need 25 and I have 15. I only wonder… is this PER YEAR or a one time deal? If its per year I’ll leave. Its BS!
October 8, 2011 at 11:04 pm #859473Again… I don’t even know how you guys deal with it anymore. I totally boycotted ebay… personally, I am wondering how long it will be before Windstone seeks alternate ways to hold auctions. Paypal MUST be screwng with them too AND with all these new fees…GAH! it’s all just so infuriating.
Got a busted Windstone?

It was just a one time deal for me. I haven’t heard of anyone having to go through it more than once.
Paypal may have taken a look at what type of accounts tend to have the highest incidence of buyer complaints/disputes, and found that new sellers with low feedback caused the most trouble. Since a lot of time goes into settling disputes, it makes sense that they would try to safeguard buyers (and themselves) from the user category that statistically causes the most issues for them.
It doesn’t make it suck any less, but I wonder if that had something to do with it. Unfortunately it hurts honest sellers who are new or don’t do many online sales.
October 19, 2011 at 11:40 pm #860422Ebay can just suck it…. after I get my money (after the freaking 26th and the person has already received the items and left good feedback) I am No longer using those freaks. I’ll contact my main buyers and just use emails… Ebay is going to slit their own throats from doing this to GOOD SELLERS! Man, those bad apples can really mess over us good ones in a heart beat. 🙁
October 20, 2011 at 4:38 am #860446Serenity, I’m angry with them too. ON EBAY’S WEBSITE, IN BLACK AND WHITE, it says they hold the funds “3 days after the item has been confirmed delivered or 21 days without tracking”
here is the exact quote from their website:
If the estimated funds availability in My eBay is unavailable that means the transaction is involved in an eBay Buyer Protection case. Click unavailable to find out more.
Your funds may be available more quickly if you:
•Add tracking information or print your shipping label through eBay or PayPal. Your money will be available 3 days after delivery confirmation.
•Mark the item as shipped and we can calculate a delivery date. Your money will be available 7 days after your latest estimated delivery date.
If there’s no tracking information and you don’t mark the item as shipped, or we can’t calculate a delivery date (for example, if the item was shipped internationally), your money will be available 21 days after the buyer pays. It may take longer to get your funds if the buyer reports a problem.
Get the status of your paymentI print postage online, through ebay/paypal, and 3 days after my item was marked as delivered, still no release on the funds. 4 days-nothing. 5 days I called ebay and the rep pretty much said “Well, we re-evaluate all the accounts on hold on the 20th of every month, so just wait another 3 days” She never told me for SURE if the funds would clear or not-or when. Why was ebay still holding my funds? Why? Because they felt like it! >.<
October 20, 2011 at 6:22 am #860452This one went to Canada, so tracking or confirmation isn’t possible through USPS or I have been told that from the post office here where I live. The items have been received and I have possitive feedback BUT since there was no tracking… I so dislike Ebay. I will no longer sale on that site. Ever.
