An auction I’m bidding on is ending soon. I’m on pins and needles….it’s like I have an IV of pure adrenaline hooked up and with every passing moment, more and more floods my system. I’ve been bidding on things for years and it’s always exactly the same, whether my bid is for a lot or for a little. I don’t know what will happen first–the auction ends, or I have a heart attack!!!
:shout:
nervous!

August 3, 2009 at 12:56 am #778167Prrrroooooooobably doesn’t help that I “accidentally” drank half a Rockstar ’bout half an hour ago. Oops. I’ve been set to “vibrate.”
Does anyone else suffer this Last-Minute-Auction-Affliction?
Eeee thanks PDC 8) Bout time I made one.
August 3, 2009 at 12:58 am #778168I do…It is pretty darn exciting…loading that sniper rifle, ready…aim…FIRE!!! XD XD
You’ll have to let us know how it turns out. 😀
August 3, 2009 at 1:01 am #778169Waaaaaaah 🙄
Didn’t win it. Hope someone on the forum got that Gothic Unicorn. I had to put in my highest and walk away, but had to watch the end….can’t afford to spike a big’ol bid at the last second right now. One day…one day!!!!
Congrats to whoever won him
August 3, 2009 at 1:04 am #778170I do the same thing—heart starts racing at the last minute! Haven’t been bidding lately but the last one someone, who hadn’t placed a bid on the item, came in at the last few seconds and blew me out of the water! 😡 :shout: :shout: Oh was I mad! All that and to have it snatched away in an instant. Oh well, all’s fair in bidding and Windstones!
August 3, 2009 at 1:33 am #778171That’s why I just place my highest bid and then walk away. I was watching that gothic uni too… but I remembered how much the last one went for so I knew it was a hopeless cause. $288.00 😮 I don’t want one that bad. Not yet anyway…
I was gonna try and snipe the peacock coiled mother they just listed. I had my bid all set to go. I clicked with 3 seconds left… and then realized I had to click ANOTHER button. I didn’t even get my bid in. :spank: I’m such a spaz! 😈
My one time trying to snipe an auction, and I failed! This just enforces my belief of place your bid and walk away! 😆
August 3, 2009 at 1:51 am #778172I get the feeling that when you do that, the snipers just get more of a challenge and WANT to snipe…I think I’m paranoid though.
August 3, 2009 at 2:16 am #778173I think people snipe because then you have less time to recover and rebid. They usually do it in the last remaining seconds like 10 seconds before auction ends. They want the item and they see what the highest bid is up to. Of course, what they don’t know is what your maximum is–but that only drives up the price for you 😡 . I have mixed feelings about sniping–okay they want the item, but if they unnecessarily drive up your price then that totally stinks! 👿 I don’t think they’ll do it, but too bad ebay doesn’t have a rule about sniping–you can’t come in at the last minute and place a bid unless you already have one legitimate bid on the item. But they get more money so it’s good for them. 😡 👿
August 3, 2009 at 2:37 am #778174I think sniping encourages people not to place outrageous bids for items, because they’re afraid they’ll literally have to put their money where their mouth is. In a weird way, sniping seems unethical and is super frustrating, but if you’re worried someone will drive up your bid at the last second, I guess it discourages one from bidding more than they really will pay. On the flip side though, I get how it sucks to have a “good” price sniped away from you even if you win. But you still won!
Guess I’m playing devils advocate 😳
August 3, 2009 at 2:50 am #778175Bidding can be one of those double edge swords–personally, it depends on how badly you want an item. I like Poads, but am I willing to fork over $500 for one? Don’t think so. I usually look at an item and really want it or not, I place what I would be willing to pay then walk away. Have to otherwise you’re bidding higher and higher and lose sight of what you can afford. For Windstone, I’ve only won one bid, so it doesn’t get you to win the item. That’s okay.
I can see what you mean about snipers–yeah better not put a $1,000 on an item if you can’t afford $1,000 because someone can come in and snipe it and raises your price. It is upsetting to be the highest bidder at $100 then all of a sudden it goes up to $200! But you’re right, if you can’t afford the $200 then you shouldn’t have bid that.
In the end I say all’s fair in bidding and Windstones–but it can get sooooo frustrating sometimes! And….better luck next time! 🙂
August 3, 2009 at 5:01 am #778176Yeah, I think it always has to come back to all’s fair in bidding for Windstones!
August 3, 2009 at 6:47 am #778177I was watching that unicorn as well, but seeing as I held one in my hand only two years ago and didnt want to spend the 95.00 dollars at the shop 😆 there was no way I could spend almost 300.00 dollars now. I did watch it to the end though and I HATE when a bid goes in at the last second. I do believe that person did have a bid in when it first started though. I hope you find one someday and at an even better price. 🙂
