…please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Of all the resumes I’ve sent out, I dropped one off at a printing place here in town yesterday, and today they checked up on references – they called the grad student I work with (and who used to work at this printing place) for a reference.
I’m desperate for an interview at the very least, and would be over the moon to just have the job. It offers experience that I need in printing and has a chance at a supervisory role down the line.
Please pray for me/send good thoughts my way. I just want to be able to pay my rent without help again! (although I’d love that experience too)

September 3, 2008 at 6:06 pm #731186Oh, I hope you get it! But isn’t checking references before the interview kinda weird? In my experience, references are the last thing before you get hired…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I dunno, I can see it both ways. Why waste time interviewing if the references are bad? Plus, the grad student they called used to work at this place, so I can see them calling to see what she thinks of me, since she’s working right next to me every day. She spent five years there, used to be a supervisor and they’ll call her from time to time as a relief person if someone is gone.
