Sorry if it is a silly question, but what is OOAK?
Are rainbow pieces being made anymore? It is one of my favorite color schemes =)

I believe most rainbow pieces are discontinued. I think that the old warriors and lap dragons are not officially discontinued, but I don’t believe they plan to make more.
They may make rainbow pieces in sculpts that haven’t been painted in rainbow yet (new dragons and I think sitting spectrals?)

As far as I know, rainbow is officially retired. There were a few sculptures released as LP (only available through the windstone store) back when the store was started (or so I have surmised, that being before my time on the forum).
The only exception might be the brand new hatcher Melody is working on as she said she would like to release them in all the production colors (except the reds) for all the families.
July 31, 2012 at 2:18 am #883861Ooooh it all makes sense now. Sad about the rainbow, I can’t afford the prices most things go for on eBay. If she releases the hatcher in rainbow I will have to jump o. It! Thanks for the info =)
July 31, 2012 at 2:42 am #883864Sometimes I feel better when things go super high…its like “HA! I’ll find one for a price I can afford, not double what I’d want to spend even if I had it”. I’d love to have a brown Emperor, and wouldn’t *mind* spending $800+ on one, but I dont have that now-and wont for a long time :- But, they aren’t OOAK pieces, so another will show up and I’ll get one one day, when it is meant to find me. Setsunawolf always says, ‘If it was meant to come live with me, it will’ in reference to Windstones. So, if she loses something on ebay, that she wanted very badly, she believes that if she was meant to own it, that piece will find its way into her collection eventually. I love this idea and think its a great way to look at things…and it helps me from being *so* sad when I *do* lose something. The Brown AL OW, Sinbad the flap cat, Fruitcake the Flapcat, and the Barn Swallow rising spectral are all examples of things I lost, was very very sad over, and they eventually found their way into my home 🙂 Sure there’s others that never made it here (or havent yet! mwhahah!) but it just means they weren’t meant to be mine 🙂
Lordy–thank you Wolfen & Setsuna & Jennifer for the reminder. I needed it. I was moping (OK, sulking!) a little over the continuing lack of a GB Young again today and about missing a couple of good deals that might have made a trade for one easier. The reality is that a) I need to remember to ALWAYS be deeply grateful that I own my favorite piece already and b) I have a number of other beautiful sculpts, some OOAK, some production or LP. Every one I have is something I love. If a GBY (or a Red Fire OW, etc.) is in my future, it will show up at a price I can afford or a trade I can make. If not–well, it wasn’t meant to be and I’ll have to do without.
Don’t get me wrong; it absolutely sucks to want something very badly and be unable to get it, especially over a long time. It can actually physically hurt sometimes, even if it seems like we shouldn’t become so attached. But well, much as I’d like to have what really is a luxury item, at least there’s hope I can get it. I’d badly love to have my health back too…and that isn’t within the realm of possibility. By that standard…well, I’ll put up with a little grief over a piece or two that I may have to wait a while longer to own.
May you all eventually have the Windstone you covet the most! 🙂
August 16, 2012 at 8:11 pm #884952Just to let people know, the Brown Emp made it safely, he has joined his brood and is sitting nicely with family once again. He is now looking for the rest of his family, Fledgling, Lap, OW, RS.
