I think this was mentioned elsewhere and I know Pam said that she would mention it to Clay but I wanted to put it in this thread because lately it’s been driving me CRAZY!!

Since we have two different ‘views’ for the forum that are so structurally different, it makes it VERY confusing for me to try reading threads where people are responding to specific posts. I view it like the old forum, where everything is in order by the date and time that it was posted. I see a lot of the time someone will post 5 or 6 responses and I have NO idea what they’re referring to because we are looking at 2 different forum layouts.

Can we please get everyone on ONE view only? It’s really majorly frustrating that I can’t follow a quarter of what people are talking about. I don’t care if it’s the way I view the forums or the other way, it just really needs to be consistent!!

Hannah, I agree. I’d prefer it to be ‘one’ type of view for everyone… regardless of what is picked. I prefer the old method, too, or I miss new ‘replies’ that were made on older posts, pages back….

So … are we no longer allowed to choose how the posts are arranged? I’m getting oldest posts first instead of newest posts first – and I don’t see the options to change it.

Weird– I can’t get it to do that if I tried. Is it still doing it for you?

At the moment I am seeing your post as #95, the last post on page 4. The topics are showing as newest first, but I have to go to the end of the last page in a topic to find the most recent contributions. However, I can use “last post” (or whatever it is called) to go to the new comments, so it could be worse. I hope this all makes sense!

That is normal. There were problems arising from different people using different views. I switched everyone to the flat list view and then removed the option to change it. Unfortunately, this also removes the user ability to choose how many posts are on a page and whether new posts are shown first or last. I chose to make newest posts show up last since that is “standard” for 99% of internet forums.
As you have discovered though, you can click the “1 new” thing and it will automatically take you to the newest post.

So what happens when you hit “reply” under someone’s post (instead of the “post reply” button at the end of the thread). Does the post automatically go the end of the thread? Should there just be a quote button??

If you hit reply on someone’s post your reply still goes to the end of the thread. I personally like to have the reply button on everyone’s posts because I am lazy and don’t want to have to scroll to the bottom of the page for it.

There should be a chat room here in addition to the PM’s. That would be a quick way to converse with members who are currently online.

Just adding this because it’s a really cute idea – maybe a shout box or something could be added to the main forum page? Not sure if this can be done easily or not though.

Ok, since the forum update, all the threads are reveresed for me (the most recent posts are now on the first page, instead, of the last, and you have to read up from the bottom instead of down from the top. and everyone’s first sentence per post is now the subject line, so it it repeated twice. if there anyway for me to change this back to the old way, or is this how the forum is set up now?

The site was updates last night and a lot of stuff got scrambled around. We’re working on fixing it. Sorry about this!

ME TOO!! Its a headache to decipher. Some longer threads have the posts all out of order. Like for the “What you got” thread-Syn and Jennifer’s newer posts aren’t at the top or bottom-they’re a few posts up from the last page-so there’s new replies mixed in with the old ones. And where are my PMs? I dont know how to get to them now. The “My account” doesnt have a link to the messages like it did yesterday.
