They are both pintos by the look of them. I know paint is a breed. pinto is a color.

Right, and unless Melody starts sending out registration papers with them, that makes them all pintos.
June 15, 2011 at 12:40 pm #848253Pegasi you lucky, lucky girl! I sooo want one like that.
Syn,I would give the dark baby a loving home if you ever part with it. 🙂Every act matters. No matter how small💞

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.June 15, 2011 at 1:45 pm #848254The ‘almost black with white on their forehead’ babies looked too close to what the black unicorn baby looks like. To me anyway. Im kinda glad it didn’t come to me, I would have traded it. However if it had those markings but another solid color like chestnut, THEN I would be interested. n.n
I might be getting two more today. I ordered two from the third little ‘batch’ that hit the store a couple days later. I hope that at least they arent pintos. My last two turned into a happy ending though. Traded them both for palominos!
EDIT: according to the tracking number the package got to my post office really early this morning, so I should get them today!

June 15, 2011 at 8:58 pm #848278This set is less disappointing than the first, but I still managed to get a pinto. Both have dark eyes and purple jewels.
Wow that was fast. The pinto is now traded. Still considering trading this light colored palomino. PM me with what you have to trade.
June 15, 2011 at 9:02 pm #848282What makes this a pinto?
And this a paint?
<img src="http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/5870/displayangledimg0440.jpg"Paints are a breed and a color. Pinto’s are a color only. I have 2 breeding stock (no color) paints. If I were to breed them there is a chance they could through a colored baby. Both of THEIR parents were regestered Paint they have no color that’s were the breeding stock comes from. So a paint is a color and a breed.
Appy’s are the same. Color and breed. they can be a breeding stock (no color) Appy’s and Appy’s with color
A Pinto is a color only not a breed. Which means what ever horse you have that meets the requirements of the Pinto registration can become a regestered pinto.
Here’s another one for ya’ll. There is a Blue Eyed registation for horses.
These two pic’s that are up you would have to know what breed they were to call them PINTO”S OR PAINT’SSo I hope that helps some what PM me if you have any other questions about this. I don’t mind at all.

June 18, 2011 at 6:43 am #848564From what I can see in the blog pics there are two with the really large spots, so hey, double your chances! 😉
June 18, 2011 at 7:15 pm #848605As has been noted, in modern, registry-related parlance, Paints are a stock horse breed that may or may not actually be spotted, while Pintos may be of any breed that happens to be spotted. (A bit oversimplified, but there.) However, in older usage, (and still in fairly common usage among people who don’t know much about horses,) ‘pinto’ was applied primarily to tobianos, or other horses with large, crisp colored spots. Tonto’s horse Scout is a classic pinto. ‘Paint’, or ‘calico paint’ generally referred to the sabinos and frame overos; a paint horse would have complicated edges to its spots and frequently roaning (the sabino influence, and also the reason for the ‘calico’ designator). Paints also appear to be marked with white, while pintos give the impression of being white horses marked with color.
Generally pintos are tobianos or crisp toveros, and paints will be frames or sabinos. Splash whites would probably be counted as pintos, but they’re rare enough not to be referenced often.

ddvm has one of them, but it’s not the one I really like. Hers is more of a blanket type appy. The one I like and havent seen anyone get yet is a leopard appy with spots that are bigger than typical.
June 21, 2011 at 7:17 pm #848873I’ve gotten three of the four trades I’ve made so far:
Still waiting on a little chestnut beauty.
