(this isn’t mean or spiteful or anything and I had had to say it)

Well Ruffian- if every room you walk in smells like poo, maybe it’s just you :p

AKA- if everyone else thinks butterflies are cute or pretty and you are scared of them then…maybe…it’s you.

        😉 😉 😉

hey if people can be afraid of tin foil and saran wrap, I can be afraid of the butterflies.

It isnt so bad that I run in fear from them, I just avaid them when possible.

I’ll have to dig out the picture, but when I was little-er my dad got me a bunch of mail order coccoons and we hatched them. Had a Cecropia that was litteraly as big as my head at the time…I really gotta find those! *dig dig dig*

I’d like to see that! You know what’s strange — insects generally freak me out but these big moths are the only ones that don’t. Are these two types of moths you mentioned also commonly known as “hawk moths”?

Hawk moths, some people mistake the Cecropias and the Polyphemus as hawk moths, but the following are true Hawk moths. One of the variations is the famed Hummingbird moth, (third pic) which really looks like a hummingbird, about the size of a small hummer too…

Hawk moths are also refered to as tomato horn worm moths, because of the larve which eat tomato vegitation and can destroy a medium sized tomato plant in about 3 days, they are also a favorite of wasps to lay eggs on….The eggs hatch and burrow into the caterpiller, growing and eating while the caterpiller goes on it’s way. When the caterpiller forms into a pupe and starts metamorphizing, so does the wasp, and when the pupe should hatch, out comes a wasp instead of a moth.
