Well, here he is! Thanks to Koishii’s fantastic painting tutorial, I have finished a dragon. He doesn’t have a name yet, but I had so much fun painting him that he’s going to have cousins! 😀 Eventually. I am a very slow painter. 🙄
I hope I have sized these down far enough. I’ve never posted actual photos before! 😛

November 16, 2007 at 3:43 am #637157First?!?! You lie!….. Nice for a first piece. You should do commssions or something.
November 16, 2007 at 3:47 am #637158Thank you! He’s the first dragon I’ve ever painted; I have two griffins stalled out and a third that is coming along pretty well. It’s taken a while for me to figure out what the heck I’m doing. (And still learning. ;)) I’m using a combination of Golden paints, Lumiere metallics, and FolkArt metallics; I like the way they interact but no telling if this combination is archival or not. 😛

November 16, 2007 at 6:07 am #637161Very nice, Barrdwing. You got the colors to match each other and the orange eyes really well.
November 16, 2007 at 7:11 am #637162Oh baby! You really REALLY have a knack for this and must do more. Sell them here AND on eBay because they are THAT awesome!
And teach me how you learned so well to do blending on smooth scales (unless you have an airbrush which I dont)! Thats my down fall! For yours to turn out this well your first time out of the gate, it’s either innate or you learned some tricks Id like to know!
November 16, 2007 at 10:45 am #637163Beautiful job! 😀
